As it was nearing the end of Amour's pregnancy, Bonnie was home more. There was so much to do. She had to help their newbies get their assignments. Ambrose was easy. He was assigned to their librarian, Dr. Jin, Tate's mother. It was a good job for him. He had a lot of knowledge. But Prudence was a little more difficult. She'd been in Dark Haven over two months and she still only did random help with services and rituals.

Amour called Prudence into her office in the clubhouse. She was about two months away from having her children. She'd been wincing all day with the stupid Braxton Hicks. They didn't feel false. A couple psychics actually told her they'd be there within the next two weeks but she didn't know if she believed them. When Prudence arrived, Amour struggled to get up from her chair. "Oh, no need," Prudence said, quickly sitting in front of her.

"Thank you. I'm so ready to have these children. But at least I don't have the other three months. They said it was going to be ten, especially with the triplets. They're not usually carried the whole period."

"How thankful that witches no longer have to gestate for thirteen months."

"That was exactly what I was thinking."

"Have you found me an assignment?"

"Well I have a proposition for you."

"Okay."

"As you know, my neice Bonnie is enrolled in mortal university," she said and Prudence nodded, "Would you ever be interested in University?"

"Not particularly. Though, I do understand that there are some town jobs that are only available to people with a mortal education."

"Yes, such as the school and the library."

"Would that be necessary for a future job?"

"No. I've been praying. I would like to offer you a place as my personal assistant." Now most people would be bothered by that. But Prudence understood it for the opportunity that it was. She'd learn rituals, organization, and gain the respect of the coven. Prudence was elated and the smile didn't reach her lips, only her eyes.

"Why me? Why not your niece? Is it not your plan for her to take over if or when you pass?" Amour shook her head.

"It is not. The goddess will choose the next High Priestess. You're powerful and loyal, Prudence. You have just as much of a chance to be the next High Priestess. I am not telling you this so you will stay. I am telling you this so that you do not give up on your dreams. Even if that dream is to have your own Temple. I haven't spoken with the goddess about the exact topic but it fills me with joy to think of you having your own temple."

"Me as well. For so long, I was an orphan. Then behind my infantile but legitimate brother. And then behind the half mortal half angel, Sabrina. I have never been able to be just me."

"I know. But you can be now. So what do you say?"

"Of course!"

"Lovely, now I have an appointment with my doula right now so I need to head home for the day. I'll text you my schedule and you can start tomorrow."

"Thank you for this opportunity," Prudence said as she came over to help Amour get up from her chair.

Over the next month or so, Prudence was the perfect assistant. She knew what Amour needed before Amour did. Not just about her job as High Priestess but even her pregnancy cravings. "How is it that you do this so well?" Amour had asked her one day.

"Since coming here, the goddess has spoken to me more than the Dark Lord ever did. I listen."

"Which is why you'll be an amazing High Priestess one day," Amour said as she drank her third cup of the tea of the day.

They began their walk towards the cars. Amour was set to bless the fields that were starting to blossom. There was alreayd a set of witches there to do the spell that would bless the harvest. Amour was only responsible for watching over it. She put on a wide purple fascinator to block her from the sun. It also sheilded her bare shoulders in the off the shoulder dress she was wearing. Prudence wore a shorter black dress with heels and tights but carried a black parasol.

The ritual was quick and there wasn't much to do. The moment it was done, Prudence took out Amour's date book. "You have that children's orchestra first performance later tonight. And we have dinner at your place right before and cocktail hour afterwards." Amour nodded. The dinner was for the family. Kol, not being one to waste any time, began dating both Ambrose and Prudence their first weekend in town. The cocktail hour would be for the inner circle of the coven. The council and their spouses along with Amour's own family.

Amour was getting dressed for the dinner when her husband walked in. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. "Hello, my wife, how was your day?" he whispered in her ear in a way that felt like seduction.

"Stop that! You know I'm too heavy to do anything."

"No, you're not willing to put the effort in to find a comfortable position. I've offered to help."

"I know but-"

"My darling, it wasn't a judgement. I will wait for you. As long as it takes." he kissed her once more then went to change. He came back in a new suit.

"Damn you look good," she said with a sideways smirk.

"Only because you are by my side. Now let's get through this and I will give you a foot massage." She sighed in ecstasy at the thought as he escorted them out.

Downstairs, their entire family waited. Elijah would sit at the end of the table but Amour would sit to his right. Klaus was sitting in the seat to Elijah's left. Next to him was Rebekah and across from them were Bonnie, Tate, Kol, Prudence, and Ambrose. "This is an interesting development," Klaus said, gesturing to the woman sitting in the middle of the two men. Kol rolled his eyes.

"I think it's sweet," Rebekah said.

"Thank you, little sister. I appreciate your support," Kol said while Prudence rolled her eyes and Ambrose kept his quick smirk. All three were quite good at devilish grins. They weren't exactly ying and yang. But they did fit. All but Klaus stood as Elijah and Amour came down the stairs. Elijah pulled out the chair for Amour then helped her sit down.

"Well don't you just look about to burst," Klaus said.

"Always tactful, Niklaus. And always such a pleasure to see you. But why is it that you talk like I don't have enough power to kill you?" Amour asked. She was pregnant, heavy and snappy. Everyone at the table snickered as Klaus huffed. Elijah sat down and the food was served.

"Why was I invited?" Klaus asked as they were finishing dessert. His siblings had rarely spoken to him during the night but he was so combative that it was just easier to ignore him.

"Well I thought you might like talented youth playing some of the music you seem to enjoy the most," Amour said as she ate the chocolate cheesecake, "But you are welcome to leave. It's been a pleasure having you." The recital was set to start soon and they were front row beside the parents. Elijah and Kol helped Amour up. Klaus didn't end up leaving. Amour knew he wouldn't. She enjoyed the way the Mikaelsons had been healing. They were a real family. Possibly for the first time in a long time.

The Mikaelsons chatted around the cocktail hour after the end of the performance. They could be quite aristocratic when they wanted to be. Amour was only able to stay for a short time. She couldn't be on her feet for long lately. Being a powerful witch didn't make pregnancy any easier. But things were calm and the coven was doing wonderfully. She should have known things wouldn't stay that way.
