CHAPTER 1: AN UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER

It all started in a dream. No... a vision, perhaps. 

A vision showing a young man, Shizuya, running fearfully into an endless void where everything was empty and lost, chased by a shady character. He stopped running and took a few deep breaths. He took a step backward as he heard a splash under his shoe. Then, he looked back and lifted his foot, his pupils shrinking as he realized he had stepped on a puddle of deep red blood. Close to that puddle of blood were the corpses of his closest friends, murdered by the guy chasing him. He started panicking and violently coughed out blood. Shizuya was freaking out in the situation he was in. He jumped as an unidentified person was right behind him.

"You! YOU DID THIS!" He shouted.

The shady character then chuckled.

"No... We did this..." said in a sinister tone, as he revealed his bloody-stained sickle.

"So... Let's end this!" The guy rushed closer to him and slashed his chest with his sickle. He managed to dodge his attacks after that and began running away from him. The guy let out a maniacal laugh as if he had become a brutal yandere.

"Run all you want, but you can't hide from me forever. You're just running out of time!" The unidentified character shouted in an intimidatingly demonic tone.

Then I mentally talked to myself, saying, "Time... time... time... It's only a matter of... time... Only... A... Matter... of..."

"TIME!!!" Shizuya screamed, waking up from a bloody nightmare.

His heart rate went high and was hyperventilating from that nightmare. His pet Shih-Tzu dog named, Bella, flew across the room like a catapult as he got up from the bad dream. Bella made a successful landing on a soft, purple carpet.

"Ooh! Sorry about that, Bella!" He apologized as the dog pouted. He looked at the time on his phone showing it was 5:23 in the morning. 

Going to the kitchen, Shizuya began cooking his breakfast and lunch. He cooked scrambled eggs with luncheon meat for breakfast, and at the same time, he prepared some vegetables to make a salad for lunch.

"Wang wang wang!" Bella barked, begging Shizuya to feed her.

"Okay, okay! You don't need to be so needy!" He replied as he poured dog food into a stainless steel dog dish for Bella.

Minutes passed as he finished cooking and eating his breakfast, he finished taking a shower and put on his school uniform. He packed his things in his bag and secured his packed lunch.

"Now, make sure you guard the house while I'm gone. I prepared your dog food in your bowl for your lunch. It's on the kitchen counter."

Bella nodded.

"Good girl." Shizuya petted her head and left home on the way to his school at Chugoku High.

"I have to study hard this time. There will be a quiz this week," He mentally said.

"There is only one last project I must do, and that's in English class. They still need to film some parts of the class presentation. I think for my part, Nozomi-chan said that they are planning to film it today. Good thing my role given by them has provided me only one sentence," He continuously thought.

Today is the day that everything will change.
