Moriya was making lunch for the girls and starting dinner when her stomach twisted and heart dropped. She turned off the stove and called Charlie from the house phone. She kept calling until he answered.  "Emergency?" he asked as he answered the phone.

"Three vampires about to kill Wayland. I mean in the next couple of hours. I need to stop them but I have the girls. Can you-"

"I'm on my way now." She waited outside anxiously.

"I'm sorry, I don't know why it took this long-" she said to him as she walked up to him.

"Is it the Cullens?"

"No. I'd tell you if they were dangerous. If I do this and I don't win, I expose us. Me and the girls. One of the vampires is a tracker that is obsessed with the hunt. If I don't kill all three..."

"Have you ever killed one of these types of vampires before?" She shook her head and he saw the fear in her eyes.

"I'll come with you."

"Then our daughters would lose both parents."

"Then you stay."

"And what about Wayland?"

"Goddammit, Moriya, I'm not losing you. I love Wayland. He has been a good friend. But you got the feeling late and you have no idea what to do to fight them. Maybe you were just meant to warn me?"

"I want to expose myself to the Cullens. They need to get these nomads under control. All of them."

"Is that a good idea?"

"The Quileutes aren't going to be phasing for at least another two months. I already have to save Emily Young."

"Save her from what?"

"You really don't want me to go save Wayland?" she asked, changing the topics

"I can't. I just can't let you go knowing you might not come back or they might come after you."

"Okay." She started crying and nodded to him, "There's a casserole in the oven. I think I'm going to go take a shower."

He found her thirty minutes later still crying in the shower. He got in, not caring if his clothes were wet and grabbed her. He brought her out and wrapped a towel around her. He stayed close even as they heard Bella come home. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

"Everything is okay. I still love you. I will always love you. I don't expect you to be a god. Even with your magic. I hope you know that." She nodded but didn't agree.

"But he's your friend."

"And you are the love of my life. I know it makes me a horrible person, but I'd choose you any day." She sniffled and nuzzled closer to him.

"Are the Tabbys okay?"

"They're fine. But Clair knows something's wrong. She's getting good at that."

"Yeah, she's the better psychic. Charlie is mostly telepathy, which I'm decent at, but its not my most talented area. Who knows what Cris or this next one will be like." He put his hand on her stomach.

"I tell you what I do know, I'll love her regardless."

They went downstairs and Bella was there. "Hey Bels," Charlie said and she nodded.

"Charlie. Moriya," she said and Moriya perked up at Bella even acknowledging her.

"Hello, Bella. Are you joining us for dinner? I made you eggplant parmesan."

"Sounds good," she said and Moriya smiled.

"I'll go finish a salad and some garlic bread." She kissed Charlie and left them alone.

"Everything good at school?" he asked her.

"Yeah, hey, do you know the Cullens?" Charlie's heart raced but he knew he couldn't give anything away.

"The doctor and his wife, yeah. They're nice people. He's a good doctor I've been told. People still talking about them?"

"Just a little."

"Well you shouldn't worry about it." She nodded as they walked into the kitchen, "Everything else okay?"

"Yeah, why wouldn't it be?" Charlie shrugged.

"Made any friends?"

"Yeah, a couple. You don't need to worry about me, Charlie. You've got enough going on here."

"Daddy!" Charli shouted as soon as she saw her father. She ran up to him and he picked her up. Charli looked to Bella and couldn't judge how she was feeling but Clair could. Bella didn't want a relationship with her father but seemed jealous of the one between Charlie and his other daughters.

"Bella, what do they learn in high school?" Clair asked her sister.

"High school things."

"But like what? Mom says I'm not ready for high school but I disagree with her."

"You're like seven."

"I'm four and three quarters. But that is my point exactly. My mother graduated before she was fourteen. How could I ever live up to that if I don't start now? I'm already reading at a sixth grade level."

"Good for you," Bella said.

"Thank you. Do you get good grades?"

"They're alright. Not the best. But not the worst."

"You don't like school."

"Not really, no."

"Then what do you like to do?"

"Read and listen to music."

"And you're supposed to find good employment doing that?" she asked and Moriya laughed at her little woman while Charlie opened his mouth to stop her.

"Clair, relax. Bella still has time to figure out what she wants to do."

"That's great because all I'm seeing a minimum wage job at a bookstore." Moriya turned to keep herself from laughing.

"Where do you even learn these words?"

"Books. Television. The news."

"Who lets you watch the news?" Moriya looked on in amazement then gave her a scolding glare. She fidgeted with her fingers.

"I'm sorry."

"Thank you. And apologize to Bella for being so intrusive."

"I was not being-" the words were stopped with a look, "I apologize Bella for being intrusive,"

"It's okay," Bella said then stood up, "Thanks for dinner. I've got homework."

"Of course. If you ever need help, let me know," Moriya said as Bella left.
