Moriya was sitting outside of the elementary school nursing Cheyenne as Charlie was inside of the school with Clair. She'd turned five which meant she could be enrolled in school but they knew she was further along than kindergarten so they wanted her tested. Moriya wanted Cheyenne to get used to the outdoor air considering how often they were outside in nature. She'd done it wiht all of her daughters. They waited outside for almost an hour before an ecited Clair came out followed by a smirking Charlie.
"Our little girl will be starting third grade next week," Charlie said.
"Oh that's so great!"
"And they said that once I'm a tenth grader I can start taking college classes that will apply to my high school diploma. So I could still graduate at fourteen." Moriya smiled.
"I'm so proud of you. I knew you could do it," she kissed the side of her head and Clair couldn't help but smile. She leaned down and kissed her little sister gently on the forehead. Cheyenne gurgled and opened her eyes. "We should get home, yeah? What would you like for dessert? Maybe a raspberry cake?"
"With cream cheese butter cream and jam in the center?"
"Would you have it any other way?" Moriya asked and Clair shook her head excitedly.
"Well then that is what we'll have."
Clair started school that week. It was easy for her and she came home every single day extremely excited. She would often start talking when her mother picked her up and wouldn't stop until she was tucked into bed that night. Moriya enjoyed her excitement but also would be happy when things calmed down and other people were allowed to get a word in.
Bella had begun her final year of high school. Moriya should have felt relieved but there was a feeling of dread within her stomach. She had gotten so much information during Cheyenne's birth, she'd begun writing down everything. It was a lot of big facts. But also a few little facts. Some Moriya was looking forward to making into a real thing.
It was two weeks before Bella's birthday. Charlie was the one that brought the subject up. "So for Bella's big day I say we invite Billy, Jacob-"
"My love, she's spending her birthday with the Cullens." She said the words and watched his face drop.
"Oh." She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him. It took a second but he returned the embrace.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I should have expected that. And they can't invite us because she doesn't know that we know."
"Correct. Just a complicated situation all around. No one's fault, really."
"You're just trying to make me feel better."
"Is it working because the next thing I was going to try was sex," she said honestly and he chuckled then kissed her.
"You're post partum check up is next week. Can't get the all clear until then. But I appreciate the sentiment."
"It wasn't a sentiment. We can do other things," she said to him and he raised his brow. She moved towards him again but then they heard the sound of little footsteps, "I guess not."
"Momma, when is Clair home?"
"When I go get her," she told her second oldest. Charli's face dropped, "Are you okay?" Charli quickly picked up her face and smiled as she nodded quickly and ran off.
"I love how she bounces back. We could learn a thing or two," he said and Moriya laughed.
"I agree."
Moriya gave Rosalie wine that they could drink at the birthday dinner. It would help with cravings. It was the first time she was sharing with the whole Cullen family. But she wanted them to be comfortable and for Bella to be safe. She was prone to clumsiness. The day of the party Moriya got an awful feeling.
They were in the kitchen cooking. "But why can't I have my favorite good?" Clair asked hr mother.
"Because it is still Bella's birthday and it sets a bad precedent for you to eat your favorite food on a day about someone else."
"What is press-y- dent?"
"It means when one situation causes a pattern you didn't want," she said as she started cooking the white lasagne.
"What if I promise not to ask again?" Clair asked and Moriya chuckled.
"I'm already making dinner." Clair sighed loudly and Moriya enjoyed the fact that she still acted like a little kid somethings. Clair was often too smart for her own good. The door to the basement opened and both witches looked to see Bella coming up. She was decently dressed. The only other time Moriya had seen her look that decent was prom.
"Bella, happy birthday. You look lovely," Moriya said. Bella just nodded at her.
"Where's my Dad?"
"He's headed back right now. Did you want to wait for him to see you before you left?"
"You know I'm leaving?"
"Well you're a teenager. I guess we shouldn't' expect you to want to spend time with your family on your birthday."
"Not exactly my family." Moriya's heart dropped a little but she nodded.
"Well your father, at least. Anyway, I think I hear Edward outside," Moriya said. Bella nodded and walked away.
"I'm gonna spend every birthday with you and Daddy, Momma," Clair promised.
"You don't have to do that," Moriya said.
"I want to."
The moment Charlie arrived home was the moment Moriya received the knowledge. Charlie walked in to see that familiar blank look on her face. Right after it was gone, there was a look of dread. "Oh no. I don't like that look."
"What?" she asked, feigning ignorance.
"Don't do that. Bella still here? I wanted to give her-"
"She left. I'm sorry. But dinner will be done soon."
"Oh."
"I-"
"Why not invite us? You know Esme and Rosalie. How are they okay with this?" he asked her. She sighed.
"Well they can't eat. And she doesn't know that we know they can't. It makes it hard. But I agree with you. They sit in the cafeteria every day. They could have pretended. But more than that. It is about to be a shit show. A whole ass mess."
"Two curse words. Must be bad." Moriya had definitely calmed on the cursing since their children had been born.
"You have no idea."
Bella had come back and they were watching television. She stormed inside and slammed the door. "Again?" he asked and Moriya just shook her head. He moved to get up and she stopped him.
"Not right now. It won't help. And it's going o get worse."
