The term gay used to mean happy and joyous. This is why you may often hear is in older song, poems, and books. For example in the popular Christmas song "Deck the Hall" it says "Don we now our gay apparel." Now days however it means a person (normally a boy) is attracted to people of the same gender.
Some people think and use gay as an insult, which it is not!
Just to let those who are not already aware, but the gay flag is not the rainbow. It is the blue and green flag at the top of this chapter.
Being gay is 100% VALID.
