Chapter 4:
Beomgyu, Taehyun, Huening Kai, and Yeonjun carefully navigated the ductwork, searching for a way to locate the Chrono-Core. They knew they had to find a map or schematics to guide them.
As they crawled through the narrow passages, they stumbled upon a hidden room, tucked away behind a ventilation grate. Inside, they found a blueprint of the building, highlighting the location of the Chrono-Core.
Taehyun's eyes scanned the diagram, his heart racing with excitement.
"It's on the top floor, in a heavily fortified room."
Beomgyu's gaze narrowed.
"We'll need to be careful. The Syndicate will have guards patrolling the area."
Huening Kai's eyes locked onto the blueprint.
"I think I can hack into the security system, create a diversion to draw the guards away."
Yeonjun's voice was steady.
"I'll take point, clear a path to the Chrono-Core."
The group nodded, their plan set in motion. They knew the risks were high, but they were determined to stop Project Elysium and the Chrono-Core.
The group decided to split up and gather more intel before making their move. Beomgyu and Taehyun headed to the library to research the Chrono-Core's specifications and potential weaknesses. Huening Kai and Yeonjun went to the engineering department to gather information on the building's security systems and possible entry points.
As they split up, they knew they had to be careful. The Syndicate had eyes and ears everywhere, and one misstep could mean capture or worse.
Beomgyu and Taehyun poured over ancient texts and diagrams, uncovering clues about the Chrono-Core's power source and possible vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, Huening Kai and Yeonjun hacked into the engineering department's database, downloading schematics and security protocols.
After an hour of gathering intel, they reconvened in the hidden room, sharing their findings. Beomgyu's eyes narrowed.
"We have a way in, but it's risky."
Taehyun's voice was steady.
"We have no choice. We must stop the Chrono-Core."
Huening Kai's gaze locked onto the blueprint.
"I can create a temporary backdoor in the security system. We'll have a small window to get in and out."
Yeonjun's eyes gleamed with determination. "Let's do this."
With hearts racing, they put their plan into action. Huening Kai created a temporary backdoor in the security system, and they made their move. But, as they approached the Chrono-Core, alarms blared, and guards swarmed the area.
"The backdoor failed!" Huening Kai exclaimed, his eyes wide with panic.
They had been discovered. Beomgyu grabbed Taehyun's arm, pulling him towards the ductwork.
"We need to get out, now!"
Yeonjun and Huening Kai followed close behind, their footsteps echoing through the corridors. They managed to evade the guards, but barely. They knew The Syndicate would tighten security, making escape even harder.
Breathless, they regrouped in the hidden room.
"That was too close," Taehyun said, his voice shaking.
Beomgyu's jaw clenched.
"We need a new plan, and fast."
Huening Kai's eyes dropped, his face pale.
"I'm sorry, guys. I thought I could hack it."
Yeonjun placed a hand on his shoulder.
"We're in this together. We'll figure something out."
But time was running out. The Syndicate would stop at nothing to keep the Chrono-Core safe. The group knew they had to act fast, or risk losing their chance to stop Project Elysium forever.
