I made my way up the narrow stairs to Valentina's attic room, a warm jumper and a pair of worn-out sweatpants in my hands. Knocking lightly, I pushed the door open. Valentina was lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in her own thoughts. I cleared my throat, catching her attention. "Hey, Val. I brought you some clothes," I said, holding them out for her to take. Val sat up, eyeing the items before giving me a small smile. "Thanks, Lockwood." I nodded, placing the clothes on her bed. "We'll go shopping tomorrow. Get you some proper clothes of your own." Valentina's eyes widened in surprise. "Really?" I chuckled. "Of course. Can't have you roaming around in my old stuff forever." She laughed softly, the sound like a melody in the quiet room. "I'll hold you to that, Lockwood." I smiled, glad to see her warming up to the idea. "Get some rest, Val. Tomorrow will be a long day." As I turned to leave, I heard Valentina hum softly to herself, a sign that maybe, just maybe, she was starting to feel at home.
