Harry was sitting alone in his dorm when the letter came. At first he was confused, because McGonagall said she wasn't giving him another pen pal. Then he realized it wasn't one of her owls.

Sighing, he looked at the back of the sealed parchment. There was nothing written on it. He tilted his head in confusion and opened the letter.

Dear Evan,

I'm sorry. Truly and deeply. I never meant to invade your privacy or hurt your feelings. Truth be told the only reason Hermione and I decided it would be best to continue writing to you was because we were worried about you.

You've had a hard time opening up, and though that is not an excuse I tried to be an outlet for you. I didn't know for long, but I knew long enough and I'm sorry.

I hope that you can forgive me, and I hope that we can be friends again. I truly value your friendship, and want to spend more time with you. You make me feel alive in the best ways.

You push me to be better, you challenge me in ways no one else ever has. I'm so used to everyone just conforming around me, playing it safe. You never do. You've helped me more than anyone else, and I think that's why in my own twisted little way I wanted to help you.

I know I went about it incorrectly, but I'm not mad that I gave you an outlet because frankly you deserve one. I hope one day I can be an outlet for you without it making you unbelievably angry.

So my question for this letter is, would you like to get lunch Saturday together ? My treat, we can talk and I'll grovel to your hearts content, just for you.

Respond back when you feel ready <3

Yours truly,

Draco Lucius(Luke) Malfoy

Harry bit his lip, holding back a smile that dared to form. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to hold a grudge after that. Not that he really wanted to, Draco and Hermione had been avoiding him all week.

He knew they were giving him space he wanted, but when you had such a small group of people behind you to begin with space and fights were hard.

Hermione had sent him his favorite sweets, and a picture of the two of them together Colin Creevey had taken after his arm was turned to jello in year 2. It had a note written on it, 'these kind of experiences mean for a lifetime of friendship. I'm sorry and I love you.'

He sighed, sending a patronus to Ron to come to his dorm. Which only took about thirty seconds considering how close their dorms were. "Hey mate," Ron said as he entered.

"Hey, I need advice," Harry said sighing. "Well I don't know that I'm your guy, but lay it on me," Ron snorted, sitting next to Harry.

Harry showed him both apologies, and Ron smiled thoughtfully, "well I am the king of holding grudges as we all know," a slight bow from Ron, "but I think you should at least try to forgive them. It isn't as if they had overly ill intentions. They just wanted to be there for you in a way you'd let them."

Harry nodded, flailing his arms in the air dramatically as he flopped onto his back. "You're right mate, a weeks been long enough I'm tired of not having anyone to talk to besides you."

Ron put a hand over his heart, "your words wound me, brother," Harry and Ron laughed, as Harry stood to grab a piece of parchment.

Draco smiled when the response letter came through, taking a deep breath he slowly peeled it open. Knowing it could very well tell him to piss off.

Dear Luke,

Yes I forgive you, and yes I'll have lunch with you.

I should've at least let you all explain yourselves, but I was having a hard time feeling betrayed.

I'll keep this short and sweet, come to my dorm and we can talk in person for once.

Yours,

Harry Potter <3

Short and sweet, Draco smiled. He got up and silently made his way to Potters dorm. Wiping his hands on his trousers and taking a deep breath before knocking.

After a moment Ron answered the door, "bloody hell mate, you waste no time," the ginger chuckled moving so Draco could enter. He clapped the blonde on the shoulder and made his way out of the dorm.

Harry sighed, and patted a spot for Draco on the bed. Draco sat down and turned towards Harry, "I hope you know I'm genuinely sorry, like really sorry. I never wanted to betray you, I just saw you found an outlet and wanted to let you have it. We didn't know for very long, I swear to Salazar himself."

Harry sighed again, using his right hand to push back his moppy black hair, "I'm sure your intentions were pure. I know you and Hermione would never intentionally hurt me, it's just talking has been hard enough without this mess being involved."

Draco nodded, he wasn't exactly sure how to respond, Harry seemed much calmer than earlier.

"I know lunch on Saturday won't completely make up for it, but I hope it's a start," Draco smiled nervously. He wasn't sure how to proceed.

Harry smiled finally, lying back on his bed to stare at the ceiling, "yes it's a start, I'm sure we will have a great time. Look I'm still a little upset but I'm really not mad like I was so just relax. We haven't gotten to spend much time together without some sort of dramatic conflict, here lay down."

Harry patted the spot next to him, and Draco looked at it for a second. Deciding to take anything Harry would give him, he nervously laid his back on the spot next to Harry.

"Whats your favorite type of weather?" Harry asked, continuing to stare at the ceiling. Draco thought over his answer, "maybe this says too much about me but I find thunderstorms really peaceful. Something about the rain falling.

The way the sky lights up when lightning strikes, knowing something so beautiful hit us so hard we can hear it in the thunder. I love what it does to the sky, the way it illuminates- oh, oh wow that's pretty..."

Draco trailed off as Harry wordlessly enchanted the ceiling to resemble a thunderstorm, you could truly hear the thunder, see the lightning strike, watch the rain fall. Of course none of the enchantment really reached them, but it was a beautiful sight nonetheless.

"I love rain as well, not so much thunder, but I understand your love of watching the sky light up," Harry replied so quietly that if Draco wasn't directly next to him he wouldn't have heard it.

The two sat there for a while, staring at the ceiling together. Lying shoulder to shoulder. Draco thought they may be alright. Especially as he silently nodded off into the most peaceful sleep he'd gotten in a long time.

A/N see I can never make angst last very long😅 they're being fluffy again. This was intended to be a short story but my fingers had other ideas. Bare with me as I navigate this story back on the right track.

Hope you enjoyed loves.

Much love,
