Chapter Four

Author's POV......

"Natalie! Thank God you're back. I was beginning to wonder if you had gone off to work from Dylan's apartment. What kept you there for so long?" Ruby asks Natalie who had just gotten into their apartment.

Ruby is sitting by the kitchen counter, having her breakfast.

Natalie says nothing.....just standing by a couch in the living room like she's lost in thoughts.

Lost in thoughts indeed.

She can't stop thinking about what Alex told her.

Dylan wants to get rid of me in his life?

That's not possible.....he wouldn't do that to me....

She thought.

"Well, forget I asked you that question. Come and have your breakfast. I'll drop you off at your workplace when we're done. I'm sure we both are late for work right now." Ruby says through a mouthful of sandwich.

Now disturbed by the deafening silence, Ruby looks up from her breakfast to see Natalie standing perfectly still like some kind of statue.

"Nat.....you alright?" Ruby questions quietly.

No word from Natalie

"Nat....." Ruby is now standing from the stool she's sitting on. She starts walking towards Natalie.

"Nat.....what's wrong?" Ruby asks on reaching Natalie.

She places a hand on Natalie's shoulder.

Slowly, Natalie starts sobbing. She's still trying to process everything that Alex had told her.

Why does it all have to make perfect sense? How Dylan has been ignoring my calls and texts and what Alex told me?

Why does it have to be so connected?

Why does it have to be the case?

Just why????

Natalie thought as she slowly collapses to the floor, now sobbing louder like she had just lost something or someone dear to her.

Well.....technically, she did.

Not.....lost.....lost....if you guys know what I mean.

She's had her boyfriend ghost her after announcing the news of her pregnancy to him and she's been told that her boyfriend wants nothing to do with her.

She's lost her boyfriend and her baby's daddy.

Ruby squats to her friend's level.

"Oh my God....Nat.....what's going on? What the hell happened?"

"He...wants nothing.....nothing to do with me. He....he's left me.....Rubes, he's left me...." Natalie sobs.

"What.....what're you talking about, Nat?" Ruby asks.

"Dylan doesn't want me in his life anymore. He's been ghosting me because he wants nothing to do with me.....how could he.....how.....could...."

"Hey....hey....Nat.....you need to stop crying and calm down, okay?"

"He....he fooled me......he...."

Natalie's crying couldn't let her complete her statement.

Ruby pulls her closer for a comforting hug.

"It's okay, Nat.....it's okay. I'm here for you....I'm here....." Ruby says.
