My mother slapped me. She slapped me. I'd expect her to give this treatment to Aegon but to me.
"You terrible mother! You've never been here for us." I clutched my stinging cheek. Aegon finally had the strength to pick up his head and look in our direction.
"Elaena that is enough!" It was her go to line. She couldn't parent us so she resorted to saying the one thing she thought would work.
"You are pathetic. A pathetic excuse for a mother. A pathetic excuse for a wife. No wonder father prefers a dead woman over you!" That seemed to be the breaking point. My mother started to cry, sob. She fell to her knees crying and looked up at me.
"How could you be so cruel!" She shouted, I had to fight everything in me not to kick her.
I walked around her, I didn't know where I was going but I was going to get out of here as fast as possible.
I sat in an empty room on the far side of the RedKeep, I stared out into the sea. Admiring the colors, the movements of the ocean. It made me feel calm and at peace.
"Elaena, Alicent needs you." Aemond walked into the room. It had been six years since the incident. I came up here everyday to watch the ocean when my life was falling apart.
"I'll be on my way in a moment." I didn't bother to look at him, I kept my gaze focused on the ocean. The smell of salt.
"Now, Elaena." He was leaned on the door, staring at me, almost admiring me.
"I said I'm coming!" Ever since that day I'd been prone to outbursts. The next progressively worse then the last. When you live in a family where you have to yell to get your point across, I'd say it's become a normal thing. "I'm sorry. I'll be there."
He scoffed and walked away. His hair flipping side to side while he walked. I turned to look at him and his hair. It was beautiful.

"It's about time, Elaena." Aegon mocked me, his smile grew as he saw me approach.
"What is this about?" I asked, completely ignoring Aegon. Yet I was forced to sit next to him. I tried to block him out completely.
"You'll see." My whole family sat around waiting guest. Aegon was to my right, Aemond on my left and Helaena next to Aegon. Perfect family I suppose.
Rhaenyra and Jacaerys entered, I was surprised to only see them two. As Jacaerys took his seat, he looked in my direction and gave me a kind smile. I returned it, of course. Rhaenyra stayed standing and was to make an announcement.
"I'd like to wed Elaena and Jacaerys. Unite our two families into one. Jacaerys is to be heir to the throne and id like them to rule. Together." Rhaenyra smiled, as did my father, my mother was reluctant at first.
"No. Absolutely not." My mother spoke, the smile that had formed on my face faded with every word my mother spoke.
"And why not?" I stood up, it was disrespectful at best. Yet I didn't care for it, she wasn't going to keep controlling my life.
"Elaena this is not what's best for you. You have many suitors and I don't think Jacaerys is a match..." as the words left her mouth my fathers face dropped.
"I accept." I moved from my chair. In the process I bumped into Aemond, Aemond was less than pleased. His fist were bawled and his eye was bulging staring at Rhaenyra.
I ignored it, maybe he found something out before hand. I made my way towards Rhaenyra, I held my hand out towards her. She gave me a confused look and took it.
Aemond stood up, his cup slamming onto the table. Everyone looked to him, and he realized, yet he didn't care. He was outraged that she would have accepted. So he turned to the only solution. Jacaerys.
"You seriously want to marry her?" Aemonds anger seemed to fade away, yet his fists were still bawled. A smirk appeared on his face.
"I'd be open to it. She's amazing." Jacaerys looked to me, I felt a blush. I was still with Rhaenyra and she gave me a smile.
"Then you should know she's an angry creature. Do you know where she spends most of her time? Do you know why she likes it so much? Do you even know-" Aemond's rant was cut off by Alicent. She stood up and placed her hand on Aemonds arm.
"That's enough Aemond. I'm sorry but I cannot approve. She's not in the right head space to marry." Alicent looked to my father, hoping for some support, yet he didn't say much of anything.
"I've become aware of that. Yet Jacaerys choose her." Rhaenyra spoke eyeing Alicent and Aemond.
"Then it's settled, until Elaena can behave herself she shall remain unwed. They will be promised to each other." My mother looked defeated, like she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Aemond got even more angry and walked off.
I couldn't keep my smile hidden.
*******
I was back in the room watching the ocean. It was like it went on for miles, it was endless. Peaceful, and serine."You really want to marry him?" I didn't have to turn around to know who it was. He was the only one that bothered to look for me, who cared where I went.
"It wouldn't matter. It'll take me far from here." I closed my eyes, listening closely to the waves, taking in the smell of salt. Going back to my peace before it was interrupted. The sound of his boots got closer, until I felt a presence behind me.
"It matters to me." His voice dropped to a whisper, his body was practically pressed against my back. He moved my hair to the side exposing my neck, instead of doing what I'd expected, he placed his fingers and was running them over the length of my exposed skin.
"It shouldn't. It's none of your business." I exhaled as his hand met the base of my neck. Yet he didn't stop, he traced his hand over my shoulder. He leaned down, his breath hot on my neck, making me tilt my head to the side giving him more access.
"You are too pretty to marry him." He whispered in my ear, it sent a shiver down my spine.
A cough sent us both into composing ourselves. Aemond moved away from me and I opened my eyes and turned around. Jacaerys stood there glaring at Aemond.
"Elaena, I'd like to talk with you. Mind if we take a walk?" Jacaerys eyes never leaving Aemonds figure for a second.
