Millie's POV

I woke up the next day bright and early for Uni. I hated going at the moment because I'd ultimately changed what I wanted to do so it felt so pointless. I threw on my hoodie and jeans and picked up my phone. Lando hadn't text since  last night and I was hoping it's because he was still asleep. It was only 8am after all.

I headed downstairs where my mum was already having breakfast. 'Good morning, I didn't see you yesterday where did you go?' She asked turning to look at me. I hesitated before I replied. Did I want to let her know she was right about Lando just yet? 'Oh Lou asked me to hang out because she was looking after her nephew. We had a film day and time ran away from us. I went straight to bed when I got in, sorry I didn't want to wake you.' I smiled. That sounded convincing. She smiled at me. 'Oh that sounds lovely. Uni today?' I nodded. 'Yup, and I need to leave right about now actually.' I said looking down at my watch. I grabbed my bag and keys and headed out the door. Sitting in the car I took a deep breath, I plugged my phone in to connect my music and was ready to go when my phone buzzed.

'Good  morning beautiful. I hope you slept well. I'm heading to my parents tomorrow evening so I wanted to see if there was any chance of a little date before I go? No pressure I know you have Uni today xxx'

Oh Lando. Your timing is impeccable. I brought up my Uni calendar to check the time I was available.

'Good morning sleepy head. I  slept like a baby, clearly you did too :') umm i'm avaliable around 4pm today if thats good?  xxx

I clicked send in hope that I wouldn't be too late. A message pinged back almost instantly.

'Sureeeee, I can juggle some phone calls i need to take around. Meet me at the cafe on the corner of Blank Street? xxx'

I smiled. 'Perfect Lan, I'll see you later xxx'

I'm not sure where the day went but before I knew it, it was 2pm. Almost at the end Mils, you can do it. The tutor dismissed the class and I headed out the door. Coming out of the building I glanced across campus when I saw a familiar face heading towards me. I scrunched up my eyes to see in the sun. Wait it can't be? I didn't tell him my campus did I?

'Lando what are you doing here?' I questioned. 'and how did you know where i was?'

He looked at me and laughed. 'Mils you basically told me your full timetable, I wanted to surprise you. His smile was beaming. I couldn't even be slightly annoyed because even him just turning up is more than any guy has ever done before. I shook my head and smiled. 'You're going to get me in trouble you are' I looked up into his eyes. He completely mesmerizes me. I suddenly remembered where we were. 'Lets go before anyone seriously spots you.'

He reached out his hand. 'Only if you're coming with me'. I looked in to his eyes. Fuck it. Last lecture wasn't important. I took his hand and we moved fast across the campus to reduce the risk of us being spotted. 'Lan, where's your car?'

'Oh I didn't drive here. I was dropped off.' 'Dropped off by who? No one around here knows you?' I looked at him quizzically.  He laughed. 'Taxi' I closed my eyes and shook my head. 'Come on then, i suppose i'll be driving today.'

I pulled up at the coffee shop and turned off the engine. 'We going in?' I smiled. Lando looked back at me. 'Yeah, lets go.'

We headed into the the cafe and picked a small cosy booth seat at the back of the cafe. I sat across from Lando and he stretched out his hand. I looked into his eyes and took his hand. His thumb gently stroking mine. It amazed me how comfortable and confident he was and especially how confident I was with him. He put me at ease. I started smiling to myself.

'hey what you smiling at?'

I looked up and him. 'Oh just being here with you. How comfortable all this is' He took my other hand in his. 'Mils you've no idea how good this all feels. The only thing I'd change is how little time we've had together.' I blushed. 'Yeah me too...' There must have been sadness in my eyes because he saw it. He squeezed my hand.  'But, I promise I'll come and see you before I fly to Austria. With it being two races back to back I don't know if i'll have time to come back to see you before Silverstone.'

'Lan please don't feel like you need to prioritise me. We've only just started seeing each other. We've got texts and calls, and facetime. I'll miss you and it won't be the same but it's your job.' I felt so sad saying those words. I'd put myself out there after trying not to admit to myself how i felt. 'The last couple of days have been amazing and i'm so greatful, but your job is the reality.'

I squeezed his hand, sensing his sadness now. He squeezed my hand too. 'Mils, I didn't want to admit that I'd miss you badly, but since you just did....I will miss you. Yes my job is important but now you are too.' I felt a tear roll down my cheek. 'Hey hey don't cry.' He jumped up and sat beside me to pull me closer. '  I'll do EVERYTHING I can to make this work. It's all so quick but I will. I promise. And I don't break promises.'

I nuzzled my head into his chest. This man was promising me everything. I just needed to trust him.
