Wednesday 5th JulyLando's POV
'Oscar!! Come here, help me hang these up!'
It was 4pm and I was setting up Millie's surprise. I looked around me, the views from here were incredible. I could see why Millie loved it so much.
Oscar ran over and took the other end of the bunting, tying it up to the other end of the seats that looked over the view.
'Man this place is insane Lan!!'
I glanced over to him. 'Isn't it? Apparently Millie came here all the time as a kid with her Dad & Luke.' I took a deep breath. 'I just hope she likes it'
Oscar put his hand on my shoulder, 'mate you'll be fine. You've outdone yourself here' he laughed.
He was right, I'd never known myself to put this much effort in, but I knew Millie was the one I wanted, to potentially build my whole life around. The heart balloons swayed in the gentle breeze, the sun beams reflecting off the glasses waiting for the champagne. This was it.
'Right, you best head off Osc. Thank you for helping me' I gulped.
He fist bumped me a good luck, and left. I headed inside to get ready, I looked at my watch. 6pm. She would be leaving now. I took a deep breath.
Let's go Lando.Millie's POV.
I smoothed over my dress and looked in the mirror. I had no idea what was going to happen today. I was just told to dress fancy and a car would pick me up at 6pm. I grabbed my bag slipped on my heels and headed down the stairs. Deep down I was hoping to become Lando's girlfriend but seen as there had never been any hint of it I wasn't getting my hopes up too much. A car horn honked and I opened the door to be greated by a black McLaren at my gate. My jaw dropped. As I approached the window rolled down and Luke was at the wheel. 'What the hell' I laughed.
'Get in Mills.' He laughed back at me.
I seated myself in the back and fastened the belt.
'So you obviously know what's going on, so how about you tell me?' I quizzed.
'Absolutely not. This is Lando's surprise. You will have to wait and see.'
'You won't even tell me where you're taking me?'
He shook his head. 'Nope' I saw him crack a smile in the mirror. I swear if this is all a joke....
Around 20 minutes later we pulled up outside the Clifton Observatory. I hadn't been here since before Dad died. Luke opened the car door and I stepped out. 'Luke....' He grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze. He knew exactly how I felt. 'Time to make a new memory here kiddo. Go get em'
I pulled open the door and a short blonde lady greeted me. I smiled, she smiled. 'Hi Miss Lewis, if you'd like to go ahead up the stairs to the rooftop Mr Norris is waiting for you'
I breathed a sigh of relief, at least I knew I wasn't being tricked here. As I reached the top of the stairs the glass doors to the rooftop opened, and I could see Lando stood there. Dressed in a white shirt with a suit jacket and black trousers, his hands nervously twiddling. His loose curls on his looking curlier than ever. I stepped towards him, smiling shyly. He didn't notice I was there at first, until I coughed ever so slightly. He turned to look at me.
'Mills, oh my god. You look incredible.' I smiled as I looked at the ground. He pulled me toward him into a hug, his hand gracefully touching the small of my back. I rested my arm over his, my hand on his shoulder and I looked up into his eyes. 'Not so bad yourself Lan' I cheekily smiled.
'God I love it when you call me that' he smiled. 'Well, I'll carry on then shall I' I giggled.
He slightly stepped away and held my hand, 'take a seat' He pulled out the chair and I sat, taking in the view I loved once again. He sat across from me and shot me smile. He picked up the champagne bottle off the table, 'a glass for three lady?'
I giggled at him. 'Sure, one won't hurt'. He popped off the cork, not without some struggles and me swerving the cork that shot out. He poured out two glasses and handed me one over the table.
I took a small sip. 'So are you going to tell me what this is all in aid of?' The corner of Lando's mouth curved into a half smile. 'This?' He laughed. 'Yes this, the balloons the bunting the beautiful red roses, the champagne?'
He reached for my hand over the table. I took it, looking up at him waiting for the answer.
'Mills, I never knew I needed someone like you. Someone who supports me, laughs at all my jokes, who appreciates the small things. Someone who's beautiful and funny. I didn't know that when I met you, that you'd become someone so important to me.' I gulped, to try to push the tears back.
'Lan....'
'You're incredible Millie. And I can't think of anyone I'd rather do any of this for. I want us to be a team, will you be mine? Like officially?'
There was no way I was stopping the tears now. I stood up, pulling him up with me. Embracing him, I put my hand on his cheek. 'Oh Lan, of course I will' My lips touched his, almost in perfect harmony.
Breaking away I smiled. 'I'm guessing you talked to Luke huh?'
'I did, and you know what I didn't have to convince him that much. He even helped me with all this, and Oscar. When Luke brought me here he told me how important it was to you as kids, and I knew I needed to do this here. With this view' He gestured as he slightly turned away. The sun was setting now and it looked even more beautiful than I remembered it.
'Look, your dad is here with us. Do you think he approves?' He smiled as he squeezed my hand.
'Oh Lan. He definitely approves. My only wish is that he was waiting at home for me to tell him all about you.'
Lando kissed my forehead. 'I will never let her down Mr Lewis. You've got my word' He looked into the sky as he spoke. I couldn't control my tears, he'd literally thought of everything. 'Thank you for giving me him Dad, I know it was down to you' I whispered.
I buried my head into Lando's chest as we just took in the view, him gently stroking my arm. Oh what a wonderful moment to be in.
