☆Speak Now
The year was 2012 and there weren't many Eras, there was only Debut, Fearless and me, Speak Now. We were happy, since the day where Taylor would announce her newest album had finally arrived, wich means, we are going to meet a new Era!!!
She was going to make the announcement through a live on YouTube with some fans. But beyond ecstasy, we were in doubt, what would this new Era be like? What would her personality be like? What would her genre be? Who would she be friends with? There were so many questions that wouldn't fit in this chapter.
D: How do you think she'll be, Fearless?
Debut asked, extremely excited, she couldn't wait to meet her new friend. F: I have no idea Debut, but let's watch the live and see what comes out of there.
Fearless concluded in a tone of annoyance. As her friend, I can confirm that she hates leaving her comfort zone. Not to mention the bad feeling she said she felt since they started talking about a new Era.
SN: Here's the popcorn guys!
I ran into the living room with an orange bowl full of popcorn and a bottle of Diet Coke.
I had high hopes with the arrival of the new album, I'll confess, I wasn't in a very good phase, I was full of doubts, insecurities, illusions among other things that haunted me at night, so I kept great hope in me that maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't feel so lonely anymore, not that I didn't like my almost sister and her crush-I mean-Bestie... But something in my heart said that there was something missing and that maybe this new Era could help me out with this.
The three of us settled on the sofa in the living room while impatiently waiting for the live to start.
TS: Hello everyone, I'm Taylor and I'm here with some fans that I gathered from various places around the world because I'm very excited to tell you something.
Taylor started the live with a friendly and anxious tone.
TS: What I wanted to say is that I have a new album coming out on October 22nd!
D: Take notes Fearless! Take notes!
Debut ordered, the phrase sounded hilarious, as it mixed her yehaw accent with the excess popcorn she had in her mouth.
F: I'm taking notes Tay, I'm taking notes!
Fearless said, quickly writing down all the information in a notebook that was close to them.
TS: The album is called...
The three of us froze, waiting for the answer to the question that had been keeping us up at night for a long time.
TS: Red!
D,F,SN: Red?!
We exclaimed in a chorus. Well, Red is a color, so we know that the album will revolve around it, right? Does it have to do with emotions? Or did she put it on with no reason at all? No, Taylor doesn't make anything without a poetic meaning behind it.Oh Jesus, I'm so confused.
F:What a basic little name, right? Commented Fearless, ironizing the situation.
SN: Shut up Fearless, she isn't even out and you're already teasing her?
I said cutting off her comment. What a bummer! She hadn't even been released it and she's already starting a beef?!
D: Hush guys, she's going to show the cover!
Ended Debut by pointing at the television. When pulling a red fabric that covered the portrait on the cover, the mystery ended. The cover showed Taylor looking down with a bold red lipstick, a black hat and a deep look down. I personally thought she was beautiful.
The live aired for about 20/25 minutes and while Fearless was teasing Red in every possible way and Debut was trying at all costs to defend the Era with straight blonde hair.
I was amazed by her, she looked so cool,(she didn't seem country tho),she had a fun sound and in my eyes that new Era seemed to be all good.
Not to mention that...she was kind of cute, right?
After the live ended and we saw Era's first music video with the song We are never ever getting back together. Then, Debut asked us:
D: So what did you think of her?
She asked excitedly.
F: I hated her.
Fearless stated slightly irritated.
SN: Why didn't you like her, sis?
F: Because I just didn't like her!
Fearless screamed.
F: So far from what I've seen, she's going to be pop, right? Didn't Taylor sing country? And what the hell are the lyrics to this song? Generic, childish, repetitive...
Fearless started babbling many reasons that (in her big ass bowling ball head) justified her anger towards the new Era.
It was then that I (113% pissed) cut her off in the middle of a sentence. SN: Enough Fearless for God's sake! Look, it's normal, ok, I understand this slightly negative first impression of this Red girl, but you have to understand that no matter how much we like it, we cannot stay like that forever. And even though it's great just the three of us here, at some point there was going to have a change and in a few years there will be more and more Eras until Taylor is like 113 years old.
That's what I said to try to calm my almost sister down, I was already fed up with it.
F: Okay then, but I don't guarantee that I'll like her.
SN: I'm not asking you to like her, I'm just asking you to accept the situation and handle the change.
D: But wait, who's doing the dishes?
Debut asked so suddenly that it made us both forget the argument and burst into laughter.
The months passed, the anxiety increased, and little by little with the release of new singles we were able to see better what she was like.
It was a mix of pop, country and other musical styles, it was a mix of sounds and lyrics that somehow worked.
It really seemed like Taylor was leaving her comfort zone, and after a long wait, the expected October 22nd had finally arrived.
The three of us spent the night enjoying our creator's newest masterpiece, we danced, we cried, we reflected, we sang and the next day, straight from the Vault (imaginary place where Taylor keeps her projects) she came,Red had finally arrived!
Hey Babes,Maria talking;
So,do we like it?
