Janet
My gaze fixed blankly on the Tv as the inane show droned on. My mom's voice broke the monotony.
"Why would you say that on your first day in school?" I thought she was stating the obvious but apparently, it was a question.
"Basically, everyone who starts school has an excited expression, not the one on your face. Did you see Alexa?" My mom asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
I sighed, my patience wearing thin. "Well, mom, I'm an exception. And yes, I saw Alexa. I'm tired of sitting on this sofa, stealing glances at the show while your thoughts are elsewhere. I need a break," I said, standing up from the sofa, my legs wobbly for sitting too long. My mom's eye narrowed, disapproval etched on her face.
"Why you walking like that? Was your day really that bad?" She asked, her voice tinged with concern.
I whispered, my head hung low, My behavior wasn't clear enough? I wish you could experience what I experienced!
I spoke louder, frustration creeping in. "I'm fine, mom."
"Just be good, honey," She said, turning her head quickly to focus on the show, her laughter echoing through the room as she devoured the remaining popcorn. Her hysteria annoyed me further, and I shot a glance at her.
"What's so funny in that stupid show?" I whimpered, frustration boiling over as I staggered towards my room.
As I collapsed onto my bed, my phone rang, piercing the silence. Who could be disturbing me at this hour? I'm exhausted, I thought.
I picked up the phone without checking the caller ID, my voice groggy, "Hello?"
"Hello, Miss Janet," Sebastian's charming and soothing voice replied. I shot up from my bed, dropped my phone in suprise. That voice couldn't be coming from anywhere else. I recognized it immediately, and my heart began racing erratically.
Why is it doing that? I wondered. Sebastian continued to ring, his repeated hellos annoying me further. Anger and frustration clouded my mind as I picked up the phone again.
"How dare you have my number after everything you did today? How did you even get it in the first place?" I demanded.
"Your informational file, Miss Janet. I wouldn't want to say much, as I know you're extremely exhausted. I called to remind you of our deal. Give it some thought," Sebastian said calmly.
"I'm not agreeing to your deal," I replied irritably.
"It's a simple deal, Janet. What's wrong in acting as my girlfriend for 2 months? at least I know your body responds to my touch," Sebastian said, his voice smooth and confident.
Why me? Why on earth should I agree to be his girlfriend for two whole months? He's a pest and I can't endure it, I thought.
"You really don't understand, do you? We just met today, and you stole my diary, using it as a leverage to entangle me in a deal I'm not interested in. Any girl would hate that kind of motive. I'm not agreeing to your deal, it's pathetic," I said firmly. Sebastian growled, the sound echoing through the phone, making me shiver.
"I give you a week, Janet, to make your decision."
I shoved off the feeling of fear and replied, "You must be out of your senses to think I'd agree to your deal." I was getting pissed off with the long conversation. Doesn't he know I'm tired? I thought. Sebastian's authoritative tone sent a shiver down my spine.
"You seriously have no idea who you're talking to, Janet. As my mate, you have immense benefits. No one alive can speak to me the way you just did and live to tell the tale. I would have ripped their heart out and fed it to the vampires searching for their next victim."
