Zyon's heart started pounding as she spotted Lacey laughing with her friends across the school courtyard. She swallowed hard, suddenly her mouth dry.
Why is this so hard? She thought to herself. She had been waiting all week to talk to her, but whenever she got close, her legs felt like jelly and her mind went blank.

Is this because I tried kissing her that day? Wait... OH NO, I DON'T WANNA THINK ABOUT THAT-

Taking a deep breathe, she made her away all across the courtyard, her footsteps hesitant yet determined. As she approached, Lacey's laughter quieted. She turned to see Zyon standing there, looking nervous. "Hey, Zyon!" she greeted with a warm smile, through a hint of curiosity flickering within her eyes. "What's up?"

"Can we talk? Alone?" Zyon nervously asked. Lacey's friends exchanged glances but didn't say anything, understanding the seriousness of Zyon's request.

"Sure." Lacey replied, leading Zyon to a quieter corner of the courtyard. Once they were alone, Zyon takes a deep breathe, trying to steady her racing heart.

"Lacey, I uhm.." Zyon began, her eyes searching for Lacey's understanding. "I wanted to apologize for what happened the other day."

Lacey's expression softened. "Zyon, you don't have to apologize. It was just a kiss."
"But it wasn't just a kiss. Because I think... I think I like you, Lacey. More than a friend."

At first there was silence, Zyon held her breathe, waiting for Lacey's response. Finally, Lacey reached out and took her hand, her touch gentle and reassuring. "Zyon, I like you too." She admitted, her voice soft but sincere. "I was just waiting for you to say something because I didn't want to pressure you."

A sense of relief washed over Zyon, she could feel tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. "Really?"
"Really." Lacey confirmed with a warm smile tugging at her lips. "So what do you say, do you-"

DING DING DINGGG

The school bell rings, signaling the end of lunch break.

WHAT? WHAT THE FUCK? WHY DOES THIS SHITTY BELL HAVE TO RING NOW?!

"Hey, Lace! Let's go!" Lacey's friends call her over. "I'm sorry, Zyon. Let's meet in the art room after school."

She runs over to her friends, leaving Zyon questioning her entire existence.

Oh Jesus, why me?!

The final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Zyon made her way to the art room, her mind racing with a mix of excitement and nerves. She had been replaying the conversation with Lacey over and over again, her heart soaring with hope.

As she entered the art room, she saw Lacey already there, arranging paints and brushes on the table. Lacey looked up and smiled warmly when she saw Zyon. "Hey, you made it!"

"Yeah!" Zyon replied, her voice tinged with nervousness. "I wouldn't miss it."

They set to work on their project, the backdrop for the spring festival, in comfortable silence. The rhythmic strokes of their brushes and the quiet hum of creativity filled the room. Despite her nerves, Zyon found herself relaxing in Lacey's presence.

After a while, Lacey broke the silence. "Zyon, about what you said earlier..."

Zyon's heart skipped a beat. She put down her brush and turned to face Lacey. "Yeah?"

Lacey took a step closer, her eyes locked onto Zyon's. "I meant it when I said I like you too. And I've been thinking about it all day."

Zyon felt a surge of emotions. "I couldn't stop thinking about it either," she admitted. "I was so scared to tell you, but I'm glad I did."

Lacey smiled, her eyes softening. "Me too. And now that we both know how we feel... I don't want to wait any longer."

Before Zyon could respond, Lacey closed the distance between them. Zyon's heart pounded in her chest as Lacey's hand gently cupped her cheek, her touch warm and reassuring.

"Lacey..." Zyon whispered, her voice trembling with anticipation.

Lacey leaned in, and Zyon's eyes fluttered shut as their lips met in a soft, tentative kiss. It was a moment of pure magic, filled with the promise of something beautiful and new. The world seemed to stand still as they kissed, the connection between them deepening with every passing second.

When they finally pulled away, both girls were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other.

"Wow," Lacey murmured, her eyes sparkling. "That was... amazing."

"Yeah," Zyon agreed, a wide smile spreading across her face. "It really was."

They stood there for a moment, savoring the feeling of being so close. Then, hand in hand, they turned back to their project, ready to face whatever challenges the future might hold—together.
