After three months

Tara POV:

After the last exam, I eagerly scanned the bustling school grounds in search of my friend Reena. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the campus.

Finally, I spotted her, and I couldn't help but wave enthusiastically to catch her attention. With a smile, she acknowledged my gesture and began to make her way toward me. We met near the school gate, where the sounds of laughter and excitement filled the air.

It was decided then and there that we would head to our cherished hangout spot to commemorate the end of our exams.

After enjoying a delightful meal, we started making our way back home, promising to meet again soon. As I strolled ahead, I heard Reena calling my name. She was running towards me, exclaiming, "Tara, I forgot to tell you something. Mom has invited you for a pooja tomorrow. I don't know much about it, but she asked me to inform you."

I nodded and inquired about the timing. "You should come early in the morning. We'll have some time for ourselves," she said with a grin. I returned her smile and gave her a thumbs-up before we went our separate ways, agreeing to text each other when we got home to discuss what to wear for the event.

As I arrived home, I witnessed the comforting sight of everyone enjoying their evening snacks. I settled down next to my dad and noticed Rishi wearing a mischievous grin.

Rishi playfully complained to my mom, saying, "Mom, tell her to stop bothering me." I was taken aback and responded, "What? I'm so far away from you, can't you see?" gesturing with my hand to emphasize the distance. In response, he teasingly stuck out his tongue. I chuckled at his antics and shifted my attention to the TV.

Feeling exhausted, I informed my mom, "I need some rest, I'm really tired." Then, addressing my not-so-loving brother, I warned, "And don't let any monkey come into my room to disturb me."

Rishi mumbled something incomprehensible, and I made my way to my room, falling asleep in my uniform due to the exhausting day.

Akarsh POV:

I came to visit my aunt as my mother had suggested. I arrived almost 10 days earlier than I had initially planned. Although I had promised my mother that I would come after a month, the hectic schedule made it impossible. My time here has been delightful.

I used to visit this place often during my childhood, and it's heartwarming to see that my friends here are still the same. While I work here as a freelancer, I also get the chance to sit and catch up with them, which is incredibly refreshing. This break has been exactly what I needed.

The clock just struck 5 in the evening, and I can picture the streets bustling with people out for a stroll.

Suddenly, I heard my name being called out, "AKKI, AKKI," prompting me to respond, "COMING," as I quickly set my laptop aside. From the kitchen, Massi chimed in, reminding me to return early, to which I replied with a reassuring "yes."

I recall the scene vividly - it was a delightful sight to see everyone from the neighbourhood gathered and engaged in conversations about their day. Varun caught my eye and gestured for me to join them.

The familiar faces of the neighbourhood kids - Varun, Lakshya, Ishaan, Diya, and Nayra - were all there, but I sensed that someone was absent. Just as this thought crossed my mind, I noticed Reena hurrying towards us. Unfortunately, in her haste, she stumbled and fell.

As soon as we caught sight of her, everyone broke into laughter, throwing their heads back in amusement. She joined in with a gentle laugh and seamlessly became a part of the conversation.

Our group comprised individuals of similar ages. Reena, Ishaan, and Nayra were 18, Diya was 19, while Lakshya, Varun, and I were 20. We engaged in lively conversations and shared plenty of laughter. As we were parting ways, Reena reminded us, "Guys, don't forget about tomorrow. Be there at 8 am, okay?"

Without waiting for anyone to respond, she headed back home. I retreated to my room, and the rest of the group dispersed as usual.

I sat on the chair, took out my poetry book, and started reading, reminiscing about the past.

The rest of the day seemed like a blur, and the last thing I remember is needing to wake up early tomorrow for the puja that aunty had invited us to.
