Oliver and The Sea of Mischief Part 1

Chapter 4: Encountering the Serpent

As Oliver mopped the floor, he bumped into a few pirates whom he apologized and got yelled at. He was new to this whole pirate thing and wonders if he'll ever survive with them, after mopping the floor he asked Captain Stig about the rules of how to be a pirate, but Stig won't allow him to learn those yet.

Riley on the other hand is having a good time as she holds the stirring wheel while navigating using her compass. However, she had ways on locating directions like running to the net and climbing it up, the next thing she did is looking through the telescope which she stole from Captain Stig, and she drew a map of her own while doing it.

Oliver watched Riley up above as he continues to mop, amazed that she's the first teen to be a new member he believed that she must've seen the outside world and know what it was like.

"Hey kid!" Captain Stig yelled. "Can ye come down here and give me that telescope?"

"What telescope?"

"Don't try hiding from me kid. I know it's you who took it." Once Riley sighed, she jumped and grabbed the rope and swung down to the ship deck but when she took her step she slipped and fall before Oliver could warn her about the wet floor.

"Oh, dear heavens." Oliver yelped "are you alright?"

"I am thanks for asking." Riley replied rudely as she got up and gave the telescope to Captain Stig. On that day, Captain Stig noticed something fishy beneath the water,

The captain commanded the crew to prepare themselves for another lunch attack or they're dead fishes. Oliver didn't know what he meant, 'til the pirate yelled at him to stay away from the water.

There, a large tail appeared from the depths of the ocean. Oliver looked down and saw big bubbles coming from the water. He took a closer look at it, and saw a monster from below, it pop out from the water, and it left him terrified as he saw a white serpent. But at the same time, he was amazed by it. "Woah! A Sea Serpent? That looks awesome!"

"It's ain't awesome kid." Captain Stig exclaimed "Haven't you ever read one of those stories when you're a kid?"

"Yeah, I did, and I just can't believe it's real."

"You think?!" Riley shouted at him "I've met that thing a lot of times, you might wanna take cover!"

As the Serpent swam down to the water, Captain Stig and his crew ready their weapons to kill the monstrous sea creature, While Oliver sat down fearfully not knowing what to do. Oliver thought to himself that maybe this might be his chance to escape and run to his family, although Oliver knew better as he couldn't leave the pirates to die fighting the slithering Serpent. He stole one of Captain Stig's weapons and attempted to call the Sea Serpent while drawing attention only to him.

"Hey kid give me that sword!"

Oliver went on to the wooden lifeboat and used the paddle to push the lifeboat away from the ship, it made Riley rageful as she clenches her fist looking back. She felt betrayed by someone around her age, then she yelled.

"Get back here, you... farm boy!

Then Oliver stopped the boat, stood up and called to the serpent by yelling at it. "Hey!" It was Oliver's first try and he got it to look at him. "Over here!" The Serpent did not hesitate to approach quickly to Oliver when it got hungry, Oliver panicked when he tried to paddle although he didn't know how, and it destroyed boat and Oliver was gone. Captain Stig is aghast by the sight of a life broken boat and Oliver being eaten alive like the fishes they are. But the rumble shocked the captain, he looked at the water bubbling then splash. His eyes widen together with his mouth when he saw Oliver riding the serpent, although he had a hard time calming it down. It kept on shaking for him to fall off, but he gripped on it tightly,

"Slow down girl, slow down." Oliver said to the Sea Serpent gently as it moved slowly. This is the first time Oliver has tamed a Sea Serpent. In fact, he's the first one to calm down a Sea Serpent without knowing how to do it. He calmed her down as he told her to relax.

Sooner or later Oliver discovered a marking on the Sea Serpent's neck, he took a closer look at it and saw a symbol of a river with a strange jaw with sharp teeth he never saw before. Oliver turned to Captain Stig intrigued by the symbol and asked if he knows what that means. It made the rusty old captain a bit surprised he saw it.

"Come here kiddo." He said calmly. "I'll tell ya what that is you seen.
