Rare and unusual conversations

Once Bakugo had noticed her once, he couldn't stop. He started to see her everywhere. Yomi seemed to be an entity that would appear wherever he was. In the dorm kitchen early in the morning when it was just them . Or in the grocery store when he was shopping with his mom. Or in the same gym he frequented off campus on the weekends. How had he not noticed her before?

And on top of that, she was actually strong. It pissed Bakugo off. How could someone so perceptive as himself not notice his classmate growing so strong? Obviously she was not as strong as him, but he was curious to specifically how much power she had gained since last school year.

As second years, Yomi rarely put effort into heroics. It seemed as if it was not something she actually wanted to do. There were few instances when she actually put effort into her hero work, only when it was true hero work instead of training did she try. It seemed there was something holding her back last year. But now, she was unshackled from whatever it was.

Bakugo wanted to challenge her to a fight. He wanted to experience her new power firsthand.

So, one week after he started to realize that Yomi Akane was apart of his class he approached her. Early in the morning when it was just them seemed like the perfect time, right before he started his training for the day.

"I challenge you to a fight!"

There was no response from the girl on the other side of the kitchen from him. She stayed where she was eating her fruit bowl and studying from some textbook. Her hair was up in a pair of messily done braids, a bit uneven, and she wore a pair of black leggings along with a black tank top. She was getting ready for her own training.

"Did you hear me!?" He began to approach the seated girl, "Fight me, Voodoo doll!"

Her gaze finally flicked up to the aggressive blonde in front of her. She removed the headphones from her head and loud rock music was faintly heard from them before she dug out her phone from her bag and turned off the music.

"Did you just call me a voodoo doll?" She asked with furrowed browns. This was taking her back to middle school.

"God, are you deaf? Spar with me!" His angry eyes stared at her unwavering gray ones.

"I don't think i've ever been asked to spar this aggressively," she let out a faint chuckle that almost sounded like a scoff, "but if you ask nicely i'll agree."

"Fuck no! Be grateful I deem you a worthy opponent for me!"

Yomi couldn't contain her laugh as she started to laugh right in his face. He was funnier than she thought he could ever be, though it was unintentional.

"Only because you're funny i'll agree to spar with you."

"You better be ready today at 6 p.m. sharp! Don't be late and I am not funny!" Were Bakugo's last words before he angrily stomped away from Yomi towards the front door.

Yomi bore an amused look on her face. It was rare that her classmates actually got a reaction out of her. She chalked it up to the surprise of the whole conversation. Honestly, what has caused Bakugo's sudden interest in her? Ugh, he was so weird.

On another note, Yomi needed to start her daily training before school started. So, she set her mind to that instead.

...

Yomi was already sore from her morning training. She had been pushing herself farther than previous years as she knew she needed to start taking hero work seriously with graduating this year. And now she still had to fight Bakugo.

Sure, it would he good for improvement to have a sparring partner and Bakugo was strong, but she was just so tired already today.

Groggily she hauled herself into her bathroom to change into a pair of black shorts and light pink shirt. She couldn't bother herself to do much with her hair so she settled on putting her curls into a bun.

Yomi grabbed a snack from downstairs before heading over to the couches in the living room where Bakugo lazily sat; he also seemed to be in work out clothes and ready for their spar.

"Fucking finally, took you long enough!" And with that Bakugo got up and headed towards the doors, "Are you coming or not?"

And with a role of her eyes Yomi responded with a quick "Yup, right behind you."

"Since when were they friends?" Kirishima couldn't help but ask.

"Ya i've like never seen them talk." Mina replied. It was rare that Bakugo ever hung out with people outside of their little group.

"Maybe Bakugo actually does have game!" Sero pipped in and if Bakugo were still there he would have been threatened him with death on the spot.

The others around him laughed it his joke. No way would quiet Yomi fall for loud mouth Bakugo.

Back with Yomi and Bakugo, the shorter girl trailed behind him lazily and ate her chosen snack of a bag of grapes.

"Sooo, why did you wanna fight me in the first place?" Yomi couldn't help her curiosity. It was just such a random request, or more of a demand.

"To prove i'm the strongest in class!" He hadn't bothered to turn around to respond to her and instead remained two steps ahead of her.

Yomi had to suppress her laugh at his answer. "Ok sure, and how did you wanna fight? With quirks or without?"

"To spare you the agony of my quirk, we can do no quirks. But just for your sake!"

"Ya, i'm sure it's just for my sake, Bakugo."
