Weightlifting and Thinking
Yomi sat on the bench in the gym. She had spent a while there already early in the morning before class. She had just finished weight lifting herself, but when she looked over to the side she saw Bakugo setting up his own equipment. He definitely looked like he could lift a lot and Yomi wondered exactly how much he truly could.
She raised from her seated position and hauled herself over to Bakugo. She snuck up behind him before lighting tapping his shoulder two times. "How much do you lift?" She curiously asked as she gazed up at him. It was such a random interaction that she had initiated and she wondered why she did.
"Why, you think you could do any better than me?" He angled his body slightly towards her and kept his eyes trained on her. The way her hair and clothes were so messy from having just previously working out and her muscles seemed to be more prominent. Yomi wasn't even close to having as defined muscles as Bakugo, but they were far from average.
"Ugh, everything just has to be a competition with you." Yomi couldn't help but role her eyes at his competitive nature. Truthfully, she didn't know why she had even asked.
Yomi began to walk away from Bakugo before she felt a light tug on one of her braids. "Wanna see if you can actually lift as much as me?" Bakugo practically taunted as he gestured over to the weights. "I'll even spot you because you're obviously gonna need it."
"Do you ever shut up? I'm plenty strong anyway, I bet I could do it easy." She gloated, although contradictory to her words she wasn't nearly as confident in her ability as she was presenting herself.
Bakugo guided her over to the bench and stood behind her as she laid down on it. Yomi hesitantly wrapped her hands around the barbell before lifting it up slightly to get a feel for the weight. It was definitely a lot heavier than what she was used to but she was confident she could do a set of 5 with it.
Yomi lifted the barbell up and above her before bringing it down once then up again. As she repeated this motion Bakugo's hands instinctively followed her movements, as if he hadn't expected her to actually be able to lift it as fluidly as she was. He watched attentively as her muscles flexed with each lift and eyes sparked with more determination every time she lifted the weight.
When she began to struggle after her 7th raise of the barbell she set it down, having had enough working out today after her original workout.
"See I told you I could do it!" She gazed up at him as she was still sitting on the bench as she bragged. Truly, she was proud of herself. She really was doubting her strength before this.
"Yeah, yeah, you could barely do it. Plus, you couldn't even last two sets!" Even if Bakugo was trying to discourage what she had accomplished, Yomi was still proud of herself. She told herself it was just because he was jealous, even though deep down she knew that was her just trying to make herself feel better.
"Let's see you do it then, shithead!" Yomi raised form her seated position and gestured for Bakugo to take her place. He did as told as took her position as Yomi went around to the back to spot him. Though she doubted he would need it.
As Bakugo began to lift the barbell above his head Yomi realized that just how attractive he was despite his sour attitude. She noticed the way his tank top clung to his torso and his hair was slightly sticking to his forehead. How had she not realized his attractiveness earlier?
Not many approached him romantically in their first year save for a few who did not fear his wrath. He was known for his fiery attitude and harsh replies. Not a single confession had ended like the fairytale people assumed it would when they approached him. He did not let them down easy but instead gave them a short and brash reply that discouraged them from ever liking him again.
There was not much difference in their second year. Although his attitude had calmed down slightly, meaning there were actually more confessions. He had started to grow into his looks that year as well and he also grew in general. He grew to be 5,11 and that got the girls attention. Although, again every single confessions ended the same way: a curt no without even a single glance form the blonde.
Now in their third year Bakugo had seemed to ease up quite a bit from their first year. He was still very passionate but he wasn't yelling as much. Girls had almost completely given up on asking him out save for a few. He had received 2 confessions so far this school year and he walked away in the middle of both of their confessions, seemingly sick of the confessions.
When Bakugo had finally placed down the barbell and looked up to Yomi he noticed her zoned out where he had previously laid down. He was now sat up on bench staring directly at her. He seemed to be taking in her features, the way she had light freckles but only on her nose and forehead, she had a faint slit in her eyebrow that seemed to be almost completely grown out, and she only wore silver jewelry.
The little things.
"What the hell are you looking at, Voodoo?" His gruff voice snapped her out of her own head. She quickly adjusted her eyes to meet his under his slightly furrowed brows.
"Nothing, nothing!" She waved her hands around just a bit as she had been caught in a moment of weakness.
Bakugo simply scoffed at her and grumbled something under his breath along the lines of dumbass.
He began packing his stuff up as she looked at him with a look of confusion in her face before turning to her, "Aren't you gonna get going before school starts?"
"Shit you're right!" She scrambled for her things as Bakugo looked at her as if she was a complete idiot. Honestly, after this interaction, she really wasn't helping prove him wrong.
He was already at the door filling up his water bottle as Yomi finished grabbing her stuff and rushing over to him. When she reached him she noticed that he had just finished filling up his water bottle. In a rush Yomi didn't think twice about grabbing his bicep and dragging him along behind her.
He protested as he felt himself be forcefully yanked towards their down building. "Let me go!"
"I can't be late again! Oh god, Aizawa is gonna kill me!"
