(I lied. the next chapter will have entrance exam stuff—but something important happens in this one! okay i wrote it a little confusing but the beginning of the chapter takes place 12 hours and one day later so we have 2 days till the exam. ALSO: dabi and hawks are aged down to 16 and 17 <3)

"BEEP BEEP.........BEEP BEEP.........BEEP BEE-"

the alarm clock hits the floor with a thunk.

"ughh" Maize groans as she sits upright in her bed. looking down she can see the time display on the screen which now has a long crack going across the glass.

dammit that was brand new—HEY WAIT I SLEPT IN!

she jumps up out of bed and rushes into the bathroom. she washes her face with lightning speed and brushes her teeth so aggressively fast the brush almost broke in her hands. without skipping a beat she jumps down out of her loft, ignoring the perfectly good ladder that was just inches away.

no time for breakfast so i'll just raw dog it.

heh 'raw dog'

After accidentally slamming her front door shut she enters the elevator clicking the first floor button a little too hard. her hands fly to her pockets to make sure she hasn't forgotten any of her belongings.

Ding!

The metal doors slide open and she flys through them so fast if a bystander blinked they would miss her.

"okay.. the sun hasn't risen yet and public transport will take too long. My best bet is..." she stops mumbling to herself and smirks.

The automatic doors slide open and she walks into the alleyway next to the building. a rush flows through her as the familiar feeling of chakra pools down at her feet. Without hesitation she starts running up the side of an old brick building. step after step, stride after stride. She leaps over the edge of the structure and stands on the roof.

I haven't used my chakra for ninja-e things in a while, I feel like I'm me again.

seeing a perfect row of buildings straight ahead of her leading to the library she places her feet firmly on the ground, ready to jump to the next surface she pauses,
"Quirk use is illegal and my abilities look like a quirk, maybe I shouldn't do this?"

She brings her hand up to her chin and strikes a 'thinking pose' as she contemplates her options.

if i use public transport it will take me 10 minutes to get to the library but if i go my way it will take like 3. I have to open the library in 8 mins so if I go the legal way it would open late and if I get caught using my abilities, who knows what would happen..

"Well I guess I'll go my way! and if i get caught.. act now consequences later!" She comes to a conclusion quickly and readies herself. a running start and an agile lunge gets her flying through the air. She jumps building to building at speeds that could be considered 'over the limit'.

The darkness that looms over the early morning sky helps her not be seen by the few pedestrians lurking down below.

The three minutes pass quite fast as she jumps down directly behind the library with her keys ready in her palm.

4 PM - 2 DAYS TILL UA ENTRANCE EXAM

Maize sits at the front desk of the library feeling an odd wave of melancholy. The events of her childhood seem to be hitting hard now that she has no books to busy herself with. ever since she's arrived to this new place she has been putting those dark thoughts to the back of her mind. 'Maybe if I ignore them they will go away' wishful thinking.
