It was 4.pm on a Monday and Bria and I was front and center on my mothers plush red sofa waiting for Rap City to come on. Me and my little sister may have disagreed on a lot of things but there were two things we could actually put our differences aside for, Rap City and a big bag of nachos with a jar of jalapeño cheese dip. This was the ONLY show that I could get Bria to watch that she ended up liking in the long run.
"Rap city, rap city city" we'd turn facing each other singing along before the commercial break."
My little sister may have been a pain but she was hardly ever stubborn, she was usually always open to new things unless they completely went against the "Girl code". Back then B.E.T had all the homies that were on the come up. Common, Kanye west (who was Bria's favorite) Dipset, Red man and so many others.

"Don't eat up the last bit of chips J.R, I'm going to the bathroom and Ima want more when I get back!"

"Not if you don't wash your hands first doo-doo butt" I laughed and threw one of the couch pillows at her. Of course she threw it back and ran off.

I went to go look out my living room window just to see what was going on on the ave. I hated living in the projects but I loved the 19th floor view we had, it was all Birdseye and what not. But when you have thick glasses like I had, it was like seeing ants with a magnifying glass. There was this guy I saw almost too often with a pair of Everlasts boxing gloves slung around his neck. He was either always on the monkey bars lifting up or just posted up. He never stayed out longer than 20 minutes though, I wonder why. I wonder who he was...

My thoughts were interrupted by my intercom buzzing like crazy. I usually never answered it while my mom was still at work but I had a feeling it was somebody either Bria or me knew.
Bria ran out of the bathroom.

"You better not answer that, you know the rules. No company until mommy gets back"

I answered anyway

"Yo!?"

"Ayo' buzz the door pussy, it's me Are'll"

Bria looked at me like she was praying I buzzed the door without asking her permission first.
I pressed the key button anyway.

"Bria I'm the oldest, just incase you forgot. You understand? I don't care how grown and smart you think you are, you ain't the boss around here. Now stop looking at me like you're my mother!"

"Neither are you, you ain't no boss either! and I'm telling mommy as soon as she gets back from work you watch!" She stormed off into her room and slammed her door.

I opened the front door just in time for Are'lls loud ass to come in.
We slapped fives and then he came in all hype like he just hit the jack pot or some shit. Before I got a chance to ask the nigga what he was so hype about, he hopped over to the left over chips we had and started to stuff his red cheeks with em.

"Yo, B' them niggas over in polo grounds are crazy trash in skelly" he said with his mouth full, crumbs flying everywhere as if he didn't notice my mothers couch was clean before he decided to kick back on it.

"They had no moves, no plans no nothing my nigga. We gotta tell Meg that there's easy money over there"

"So you went all the way over there by yourself to play against how many niggas!?" I asked him, I wanted him to know how stupid it was for him to make that move.

"Four." Shrugging his shoulders
"Come on b lets go in your room, I gotta show you something." He climbed off the couch and we headed for my room.

Are'll looked at me like he struck some serious gold. He turned his Jansport bag upside down and dumped four cans of spray paint on my bed.
This nigga had to be joking right about now, I looked at him like he was missing an ear or some shit. This explains why he's taking summer classes now...

"Look, now we got gold, silver, orange and white! And all I gave Pete was two of my skelly tops. That's all." He shrugged and threw his hands in the air .

Sometimes, nah. ALL the time, Are'll would do the dumbest shit and not think anything of it. Don't get me wrong, me and Are'll are like brothers. I knew him ever since the baby wipe age but at most times I feel like this nigga was only born with half a brain.

"So you mean to tell me you gave up two of your greatest tops for some bitch ass spray paint? My nigga what the fuck kinda drugs are you really on"

"Junior What's the problem, why you keep questioning me like I'm stupid or something? You think the only one that's allowed to make moves out of us 3 is Megan?" He looked at me like he knew all the answers to those dumb ass questions he just ran by me.

"Listen man, I don't know and I don't care. I'm just trying to make some bread this summer, aight!? We can't make no dough off no spray paint dog"
"Now if I was you, I would go home and make more skelly tops... That's IF you about your money!"

I wanted him to know how stupid he was for even doing a stunt like that. I mean He was like my brother so I had to show him tough love most times. After all, Are'll did need the money more than all of us. His moms just got laid off of her good job at the meat market over on 7th so now she makes Dominican cakes and sells them out of her house. Are'lls sister Michelle was the only one with a steady income in that house. His fat ass always wanted to eat, everywhere we went he had to have a tray of Chinese food, so I couldn't understand why this nigga took paints instead of money.
