"And I always felt like I was in-between something like home and somewhere far away."
~*~*~
I've been living with Jack for little over a week now. Things have been going okay, I mainly stick to myself unless we have to make a public appearance. Yesterday we met with Angela who was really pleased with how well things have turned out.
Apparently Jack and I are the talk of the town which means that we have to make our relationship official tonight at my first ever Devils game. I'm honestly kind of excited to go watch the game. Not that I want to pretend to be Jack's girlfriend but I miss hockey.
It used to be such a huge part of my life but I haven't watched a game or tied on a pair of skates in a really, really long time. When I was little, I used to play hockey with the Hughes brothers during the off season. My mom even had me play hockey on a team all the way up until I joined high school, so to say hockey as been in my life forever is an understatement.
Jack has a hand on my back as he escorts me down a long hallway. It feels weird to be walking around with his jersey on, another thing I haven't done in a long time, but it would be weird if I hadn't worn it.
He's been extremely gentle with me lately. Always make sure to stay on the opposite side of the boundaries I have set. It's definitely made me feel better but I don't think I can ever forgive him for what he took from me.
Maybe in the future we can be more civil towards each other but there's a massive wall holding me back from the possibility of us just even being friends.
He leans down to whisper in my ear. The smell of his aftershave hits me in the nose and makes my knees wobble. I have to admit, Jack has grown to be a gorgeous man. He was always attractive but age has done him wonderfully. Broad shoulder, sharp jaw, long thick hair that curls at the nape of his neck. It's hard to look away sometimes.
"This is going to come as a shock to some people. I've already informed a few to be on their best behavior but we have the element of surprise on our side."
"Okay, is there anything I should be worried about? What to do and what not do do?"
He slows his steps as he's thinking. "I don't think so. You know what to say about our realationship, how we met, things like that. The only thing I have to ask is that we really have to put on a show."
"There's a few women here in particular that can be total sharks and will sell you out for a few extra bucks. I know I'm already asking so much of you but I would really appreciate if we laid it on thick."
