Family Forever – Chapter 6

Kevin and Dani got to the hospital very early in the morning, they basically woke up, took showers, and got to the hospital. Everyone was sleeping when they got to the hospital including Paul and Denise. Kevin woke up his parents who were both sleeping in the room with Sophie.

"How was your night," Kevin said after both of his parents were up. Kevin and Dani had bought breakfast for everyone. They had stopped on the way to the hospital and got six dozen bagels with three kinds of cream cheese for them. They figured they could eat them during the day too.

"Good, she slept the whole night and only woke up the two times when they came in to take vitals and roll her. After they rolled her, she went back to sleep right away," Denise said as she went over and got her stuff out of her bag. "I am going to shower quickly and then you can Paul. I also want to hear what the doctor has to say."

"I see you bought breakfast," Paul said after Denise disappeared into the bathroom to get ready for the day. "What did you bring us," Paul asked. He had his eye on the bag that Kevin was carrying since they got here.

"Bagels and cream cheese, Dani thought we could keep them in the room. We got six dozen so eat up," Kevin said as he started bringing out all of the different kinds, they got plain, blueberry, raisin oatmeal, sesame seed, everything, and a garlic herb bag. For cream cheese they got regular, strawberry, and a garlic cream cheese spread.

Sophie started moaning. Kevin was there in a second with a bucket in case she needed it. "Kevin, my hips hurt," Sophie said when she woke up.

"Let's get you some medicine then," Kevin said as he pressed the nurse's button. "I'm hungry," Sophie said after the nurse left that gave her the medicine that she needed.

"Let's get you a bagel then," Kevin said as he went over and got out a half of a plain bagel, "Soph, do you want cream cheese or no," Kevin said from the place where he was standing.

"No," Sophie said as Kevin came over and tore a part of the bagel off and put it in Sophie's mouth. She ate the whole bagel. "Kevin, can I have another one," Sophie said. She was hungry and wanted more.

"Let's see how this one goes down and if it goes down good then you can have another one," Kevin said. He didn't want it to come back up. Kevin was right though because three minutes later Sophie was puking again.

"Oh honey," Kevin said as he rubbed her back as she emptied her stomach into the pink bucket that Kevin was holding. "I just want to feel better," Sophie said once she was done throwing up.

"I know you do honey," Kevin said as he hugged her. She clutched onto him and just started sobbing. She was in so much pain, this week had taken a lot more out of her then she had thought. Kevin just let her cry into him.

The doctor came in about a half hour later. The first thing the doctor did was look at her legs and move them around. "I want to see the scars, so I am going to take the bandages off," Doctor Ackman said.

"We want to get her up in her own chair today," the doctor said after he had checked her scars to find them fine. "Let's also get her to have a BM before we get her up in her chair," the doctor said to Sophie's nurse. "How are the food and fluids going?" Doctor Ackman asked Kevin, Dani, Paul, Denise, and Sophie.

"Not too good, she threw up dinner last night, and we gave her a bagel this morning, she threw that up too," Kevin told the doctor.

Sophie closed her eyes. She was very sleepy and wanted to go to sleep but she also wanted to hear what the doctor was saying. Luckily, the doctor left two minutes later as soon as the door closed Sophie was out cold.
