Chapter Three: First Time Freshman
My first steps through the doors at Linfield are crazy. I see students running over to each other hugging like crazy, I see some jocks picking on this kid, i think his name is Josh (we were in 4th grade together and he was my first crush), the "popular" group where Taylor was placed, and then there was me, all alone.
I've never had any solid friendships in the past and if i have they usually all fade away by the time summer comes around, so ever year I am left with nobody at the start. I see my old friend Emily who was my friend for 4 years until I got braces and glasses and then she completely disowned me. It's like she didn't even know who I was. I waved at her in the halls on my way to my locker, but she just looked away and pretended she didn't see me (Even though she clearly did).
I walk down the halls in search of my locker for about 5 minutes before I finally find it, locker number 302. I look around and nobody is there, probably because they don't want to be seen around me, I mean I can't blame them. So I open my locker, 42 left, 12 right, and then back around the left to 21.
I open up my locker and start to empty out my new Jansport backpack. Most girls have the cute Victorias Secret Pink backpacks, but they can barely fit anything in there. Id prefer space and comfort over cute and tiny anyway when it comes to backpacks.
When I'm about halfway done organizing and arranging my locker some guy comes up and opens up locker 301 right next to mine. I look over and see one of the best looking guys I have ever seen. And considering how surprisingly gorgeous he is I'm extremely socked when he tries to start a conversation with me.
------
He turns towards me and says,
"Hey I'm Bryce, would you mind telling me who you are?"
I stand there in shock for about fifteen seconds before I finally snap out of it and reply,
"Nice to meet you, I'm Aria, Aria Fitzgerald."
"Wow! That's quite a unique name, I like it."
"Thanks. Bryce is pretty originally, but I like it anyways."
I didn't even know how I was doing this. I mean not talking, but talking to a boy! A cute one too, and what's completely insane is that he is actually responding and he hasn't run away yet. I was way too busy talking to myself that I don't even hear him when he asks,
"So we should hang out sometime."
Now this is we're I freaked out inside. I haven't hung out with a boy ever since like third grade when this guy Kevin invited me over to his house to play Hot Wheels and let me just say that play date do not turn out so hot.
I couldn't just not answer so without even thinking I blurt out "YES!". I know, I was way too excited, but who could blame me. I'm actually going to be hanging out with somebody!
He just laughed, shut his locker, said okay and walked off giving me one of the biggest grins anyone has ever given me.
I thought my first day was going to be awful and terrifying, but thanks to Bryce I had an amazing first day and now I have a reason to go shopping.
I have a strange feeling that this guy might end up being a huge part of my life soon, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.
