[BADA'S POV]

I settled into the uncomfortable plastic chair in the doctor's office, fidgeting slightly as I waited. My injuries had been improving steadily, and I was hopeful for some good news today. To pass the time, I pulled out my phone and opened my messages. Zoe and I hadn't talked much yesterday, but I understood she'd been busy lately. Still, I missed her.

I typed out a message:

**Bada:** Hey babe, at the doctor's now. Fingers crossed for good news! 🤞🏻Want to hang out after?

I waited a few moments, watching the dots appear as Zoe typed her response.

**Zoe:** Good luck! Hope it goes well. 💕 I'd love to, but I'm a bit tied for the day. Can we meet tomorrow?

I felt a twinge of disappointment, but I pushed it aside. She had her own life, after all.

**Bada:** No worries, I get it. Tomorrow works , What've you been up to lately?

**Zoe:** Just been busy with some stuff. Nothing too exciting. How about we meet at my place tmr morning then we can decide what to do okay?

I couldn't shake the feeling that she was being vague, but I tried not to read too much into it.

**Bada:** Sounds perfect. Can't wait to see you. Miss you lots. ❤️

**zoe:** Miss you too. Good luck with the doctor!

I put my phone down, a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I was excited to see Zoe tomorrow , but there was a nagging feeling that something was off. She'd been so busy lately, always with vague explanations. Part of me wanted to press for more details, but another part was afraid of what I might learn.

Before I could dwell on it further, the doctor walked in. I straightened up, pushing thoughts of Zoe to the back of my mind. Right now, I needed to focus on my recovery.

I looked up as a young woman with striking red and black hair entered the room. She removed her mask, revealing a warm smile that I couldn't help but return.

"Hi, I'm sarah and I'll be your nurse for today to do some tests before the doctor makes his way down, alright?" Her voice was gentle and reassuring. I nodded, feeling a bit more at ease.

"So first, I'm going to do a visual inspection," Sarah explained. "I'm going to check for any signs of infection, such as redness or swelling, okay?"

I nodded again, watching as she pulled on her gloves. As she began removing my bandages, I couldn't help but wince at the slight tug on my wounds.

Sarah immediately paused, her eyes full of concern. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," I assured her, touched by her attentiveness.

"Tell me if anything starts to hurt badly, okay?" she said, and I nodded once more.

I watched as she carefully cleaned around the wound on my arm with antiseptic, then moved to my ribs. Her touch was gentle but sure, and I found myself relaxing despite the slight discomfort.

After applying fresh bandages, Sarah smiled at me. "Okay, now that we're done with that, I'm just gonna check for a couple more things to make sure you're good to go."
