[ BADA'S POV ]

I woke up early, excited to spend the day with Zoe. We'd made plans to hang out around 11 AM, but when I texted her a few hours ago to ask if she needed a ride, I got no response. It wasn't like her, but I figured she might have slept in or something. Still, I got ready and decided to surprise her at her apartment.

As I approached Zoe and Jamie's place, I felt a mix of anticipation and slight worry. When Jamie opened the door, I pushed those feelings aside.

"Oh hey, Bada!" Jamie greeted me cheerfully.

"Hey, Jamie," I replied with a smile. "Is Zoe here?"

Jamie nodded, pointing towards Zoe's room. "She's just getting ready in her room right now."

I was about to head that way when Jamie's next words stopped me in my tracks.

"Are you guys going to AMX today? Zoe said she was heading there earlier."

My brow furrowed in confusion. AMX? We hadn't talked about that at all.

"Um, not that I think of, no?" I said, uncertainty clear in my voice.

I saw Jamie's eyes widen for a split second before she quickly composed herself. "Oh! Silly me, I must be confusing things. Sorry, come in," she said with a nervous laugh that did nothing to ease my growing unease.

Before I could dwell on it further, I heard Zoe's voice. "Jamie, who are you talking to?"

She came out of her room, and the moment she saw me, her face went pale. Without a word, she practically ran back to her room, slamming the door shut.

Jamie and I exchanged bewildered looks. Something was definitely wrong.

I followed Zoe to her room, opening the door to find her sitting on her bed, face buried in her hands.

"Hey... pretty girl, what's wrong?" I asked softly, sitting next to her and gently pulling her close. I kissed her forehead, trying to coax her to look at me, but she resisted.

"Come on baby, look at me, hey," I pleaded, keeping my voice gentle. When she still didn't move, I started peppering her with kisses - her head, her cheeks, her hands, and finally her neck. That did the trick.

"There she is," I said with a relieved chuckle as she finally lifted her face.

Zoe's eyes were red-rimmed, and she looked... guilty? Scared? I couldn't quite place the emotion.

"Bada, I..." she started, then stopped, biting her lip.

"Hey, it's okay," I reassured her, stroking her hair. "Whatever it is, we can talk about it. Is this about AMX? Jamie mentioned something..."

Zoe flinched at the mention of AMX, and I felt my stomach drop. What was going on?

"I... I've been meaning to tell you something," Zoe said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just... I didn't know how."

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever was coming. "Zoe, you can tell me anything. You know that, right?"

She nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know. I just... I'm scared you'll hate me."
