✧ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ✧SADLY...it was time for classes to start again, for some reason I got up supper early so I've been spending the last two hours watching dance videos and eating whatever I could find.
I was now scrolling on social media and going through bada's story and she posted the pics of us we took yesterday at the car meet, a smile creeped up on my face and I liked all the pictures she posted of that night.
I glanced at the clock and realized I had to start getting ready for class. Quickly, I threw on a pair of baggy jeans and my favorite hoodie, grabbed my backpack, and headed out the door.
As I walked across campus, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. It was only the second week of classes, and I was still getting used to the routine. The campus was buzzing with activity, students hurrying to their next classes or chatting in groups. I made my way to the science building, where my class was held, feeling somewhat good about today.
That was until I reached the stairs leading up to the lecture hall. In my rush, I didn't notice the uneven step. My foot caught on the edge, and before I knew it, I was sprawling forward, my books and papers scattering everywhere. I landed hard on my hands and knees, a sharp sting shooting through my palms.
Great. Just what I needed.
A few students nearby paused to check if I was okay, and I quickly waved them off, my cheeks burning with embarrassment. "I'm fine, thanks," I muttered, gathering my scattered belongings. I brushed off my jeans and continued up the stairs, feeling my confidence take a hit.
By the time I reached the classroom, I was flustered and slightly out of breath. I scanned the room and saw Bada already seated near the middle, her head bent over her notebook. The sight of her made me feel a bit better. Bada always had this calm presence that could make even the worst days seem manageable.
I walked up the aisle and slipped into the seat next to her. She looked up, her face breaking into a warm smile. "Hey, Zoe. You okay? You look a bit... frazzled."
I sighed, rolling my eyes at myself. "Yeah, just had a minor run-in with the stairs. Not my finest moment."
Bada chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "The stairs can be vicious. Did they at least apologize?"
I couldn't help but laugh, feeling some of my tension melt away. "Nope, completely unrepentant. Typical stairs."
She gave me a sympathetic smile. "Well, at least you survived. And hey, now you've got a great story to tell."
I shook my head, still smiling. "If only it felt that way."
The professor started the lecture, and I pulled out my notebook, trying to focus. Having Bada next to me made it easier to shake off the embarrassment. She had this way of making me feel seen and understood, no matter what.
As the lecture progressed, I found myself settling into the rhythm of note-taking and listening, the earlier mishap fading into the background. Bada occasionally nudged me with a joke or a whispered comment, lightening the mood even further.
By the time the class ended, I felt much better. Maybe the day hadn't started perfectly, but sitting next to Bada and getting back into the flow of things reminded me that one small trip didn't have to ruin everything.
