As much as she hated to admit it, Heather couldn't stop thinking about Duncan's idea. It was disgusting. Duncan was disgusting. How could he even consider eating the people he loves.

Then her stomach rumbled and she was brought back to reality. If she had to go another day hungry she might end up thinking differently.

"I'm starving, when's Gwen and Geoff coming back?" Trent inquired, strumming his guitar.

"Shouldn't be long.." Bridgette answered. "But the chance of them having food with them is seriously low."

Trent didn't answer but his guitar playing usually changed with the mood of the room. The major chords became minor.

"Don't say that!" Courtney enlightened, "they're bound to find something."

"What are they gonna find in this weather?" Duncan mocked. "Remember last winter? I was thinking about eating one of you!"

Heather looked at him. She knew. The rest of the room sneered at him, making a joke about them starving for months straight, but she was the only one that knew.

Suddenly they heard a clash at the door, they we're back. They clammed through the entrance, Geoff clutching his neck with both hands and Gwen hauling a black back that appeared near enough empty.

"Get a med kit!" Gwen called out, as Geoff let out a few grunting noises.

Courtney searched the cupboards for one of their med kits as Bridgette scurried over to the injury.

"What happened!"

"I got bit" Geoff let out behind his groans.

Bridgette panicked, "by what? A mutt?!" She exclaimed shakily. Being bit even slightly by a mutt almost meant instant infection. If you consume any part of an infected body or wound, you'll be contaminated.

"A bat." Gwen answered for him.

"Oh!" Bridgette calmed. She should've known how dramatic her boyfriend was.

As Courtney tended to Geoffs wounds and he repeatedly screamed in pain, Duncan and Tyler searched through Gwens bag to see what she rummaged up.

"Nothing? Are you fucking serious?" Duncan whined.

"We searched the entire area! Nothing. Do we have anything stored in the emergency stash?" Gwen asked.

"I'm not sure girl.. maybe we'll have some Spam but don't get your hopes up." Heather answered.

The emergency stash was a cache of preserved food that the group had stored around 2 years ago while the markets still existed, although most of it had ran out last winter.

"I'll check the stash." Tyler voiced, getting up and  strided to the floorboard that the stash was hidden under.

"Anything?" Alejandro called over to him, Heather in his lap.

"We got Uhm.." Tyler rummaged through the dusty floorboards. "Spam and some beans."

"Yum.." Heather responded disgustedly.

"Heath it's the beast we're gonna get quit complaining!" Courtney lectured.

"Bitch I said yum that's not complaining!" Said Heather with her arms in the air.

"Well we better get cooking then!" Bridgette stated. Courtney got up and followed her to the kitchen.

The group sat in a circle by the unlit fire, Alejandro playing with Heathers hair and Duncan slicing random shapes on the floor with his knife.

"Guys I'm seriously worried for winter we actually have fucking nothing." Gwen announced.

"Maybe you just didn't look hard enough." Heather remarked.
