"You worked late again?" Cosima asked quietly, her brown eyes smoldering with sadness at seeing Emmy tired. The girl took her cap off and placed it on the table, abruptly sitting down, barely keeping her head up anymore as she nodded, yawning quietly.

"I had to cover for a boy's shift," Emmy said quietly, and she grinned weakly, her blonde eyebrows threading together. "Thank you for the food, Cosima." She took the fork and rolled it around the pasta, raising it to her lips and moaning quietly at the taste. She ate slowly, and told her friend about her day.

"How was your day, Cosima?" She swallowed the cheesy pasta and undid the first button of her shirt, taking her jacket off and placing it on the chair. The younger girl hummed quietly, tiredness written all over her face.

"The children were agitated today, and the nurses had me do the files too." It had been a hectic day for Cosima, but she was glad to finally relax and share a meal with her friend. Emmy hummed quietly.

"That sounds terrible." She sighed, and Cosima pressed her lips together, eating slowly. "You don't have it any better either." Emmy reached across the table and placed her hand on Cosima's, offering a comforting squeeze. "We both have tough days, but at least we have each other to lean on," she said with a smile.

Cosima nodded, her eyes filled with some kind of longing. "Do you think we would be friends in every lifetime?" Emmy laughed softly, a warm smile on her face. "Absolutely!" She exclaimed loudly. "You're my sister from another mother!" Cosima grinned and playfully swatted her arm away.

"Hell yeah!"

"Do you want to go for a walk?" Emmy asked as she finished eating, and Cosima nodded, feeling that she had to get rid of this unuseful stress. Emmy stood up, wiping her mouth with her sleeve, and she took her jacket, placing it over Cosima's small shoulders.

"Come on. I'm treating you tonight." She chuckled quietly and helped Cosima up, taking her crutches and placing them by the door as she took the girl's shoes and put them on, looping their laces.

Emmy lowered her arm, and Cosima grinned dazzlingly up at her, her soft fangs poking through her pale lips. She looped her arm around her and left her crutches home, knowing that nothing bad would happen as long as she was with Emmy.

They walked on the old path and into the borders of the kingdom, stopping in front of a small coffee shop that was still open at midnight. Emmy entered and found an empty table, pulling the chair for her friend and then sitting down next to her.

Cosima could walk on her legs, but she still used her crutches, because that way it hurt less, since she wasn't putting as much pressure on her muscles. Emmy ordered two cups of steaming hot chocolate, knowing it was Cosima's favorite.

"Cosima," Emmy said quietly when she noticed the girl leaning her head on her crossed arms. She placed a hand on her back and shook her slightly. "Cosima!" She whispered a bit louder. "Are you okay?" Emmy asked with concern, as Cosima lifted her head slowly. "I'm just tired," Cosima replied with a faint smile. "I have some news."

The younger girl raised a curious eyebrow, leaning her head on Emmy's shoulder. "What?" She asked quietly, and Emmy grinned. "I've been working nightshifts these past few months because I paid a doctor for therapy for your legs, Cosima."

Cosima's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked up at Emmy, tears brimming in her eyes. "You did that for me?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Emmy nodded, pressing her thumb on the girl's nose.

"Of course, dumbass." She said it as if it were obvious. "Your legs still work, but your muscles are too damaged. Won't it be a waste to just declare yourself unable to walk?" Cosima couldn't believe what she was hearing.
