The queen frowned; her body felt sore and heavier than usual. She threaded her blonde eyebrows together and raised herself on her aching arms, fluttering her golden irises open, the sun reflecting on their bright horizons.

Her eyes widened, almost terrified, and her velvety lips parted. She almost toppled over, but she barely held herself in her arms. Her hands were tightly laced in those wavy chocolate tresses, and her fingers looped inside her curls. Her breath hitched as she watched underneath her, tucking her bottom lip beneath her teeth.

Cosima's young face was lightly enlightened by the bright rays, her mouth slightly open as she snored softly, her frail arms loosely around the queen, both of her small hands resting on her wide back. Her long eyelashes were resting tenderly under her closed eyelids, casting delicate shadows on her rosy cheeks. She looked so precious and innocent at that moment, as if all the worries of the world had disappeared while she slept.

The queen's eyes fell on her neck, where the shoulder met it, and she narrowed her irises subtly. She let go of Cosima's hair and moved her right hand down, placing it over the teeth marks. The bruise was deeply purple, and all of Vanya's teeth marks were clearly visible. Every curve, every sharp point—it was all craved in Cosima's soft skin, claiming her frail being.

The queen had to admit that the bite looked pretty on her. She let her thumb trail over the two small dots, feeling the heat that still emanated from the wound. She chewed on her bottom lip, a tingle of satisfaction burning in the back of her mind achingly, watching all of the hickeys she had left over the girl's chest, each bruise darker than the last.

She was so drunk last night that she doesn't think she can remember at least five minutes of their encounter. The last thing she knows that happened is that she saw Cosima leave the ballroom and that she wanted to go after her, to bring her back, and to see her face at least one last time.

But somehow, they ended up together, sleeping in Cosima's bed, entangled in each other, with the queen nuzzled to her chest. Vanya sighed quietly, pressing her lips together and looking down.

Her young body was soft, her bare skin illuminated by the morning light filtering through the curtains. She couldn't believe she had let herself get so close to Cosima and let her guard down in such a way.

Cosima's long eyelashes fluttered slightly as she stirred, her hands that were on Vanya's strong back tightening slightly as she murmured quietly. "Mhm," And with that said, she pulled the queen closer to her soft body, melting her initial confusion in the warmth of her arms. Vanya's breath shuddered, horrified by this affection, but she still allowed herself to be pulled down by her, her cheek curving into the girl's chest, feeling her vibrant heartbeat pulse into her ears.

"Why aren't you afraid of me?" Vanya whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. She didn't understand. She didn't understand Cosima. Why would she let a monster like Vanya touch her? Why would she wrap her arms around her? Why wasn't she letting her go already? Why would she give her young body to someone as rough as the queen?

All those questions that Cosima had no idea about.

She just continued sleeping, her head slightly tilted to the right, hugging the queen's body, cuddling her closer to her chest. Vanya's confusion and frustration grew as she watched Cosima sleep peacefully in her arms. It was as if the girl had no fear at all, no concern for the danger she was embracing. Vanya couldn't understand how someone could look at her, the leader of the creatures of darkness, and feel anything other than terror. Yet here was Cosima, holding her like she was the most important thing in the world.

Cosima... Cosima didn't even deserve to be a vampire; she was all so pure and beautiful, the only thing that shines among the knights of the night. Perhaps the gods loved her beauty as much as the queen did, and they wanted to keep this ethereal body for an eternity. Vanya knew that she should be frightened of Cosima, with her gentle touch and kind eyes that seemed to hold no darkness within them.
