Ch. 4 Painful feeling

Shadow POV

I was waiting on top of a tree with my goggles, looking at Sonic who's cleaning the house.

I wasn't sure if his one of the enemies... but I have to do this for our sake. It was a struggle to lay down on the tree branch to set my position properly, knowing this is the best spot to spy on our house.

My eyes then caught Sonic playing with the broom and singing something, he was adorable while doing it, and it made me more relaxed then seriously spying on him.

As I was zooming in, I try to read his lips if he was talking to someone by dancing with his broom, it made me a bit anxious, but "Hmm~" Sonic starts to hum his favorite song, he stoped and wondered "I wonder what does Shadow like? Blueberry or strawberry for dessert?"

I felt my cheeks become warm with a smile and that his concern for my type of food made my tail wiggling "I think you already know the answer, Sonic" I mumble with a smirk on my face.

"Nah he probably likes it with coffee. Oh well, looks like coffee cream pie is fine!" he giggle's making me giggle from his sweet smiles.

But after for a while, it doesn't seem like he was talking with anyone or having signs of communication. I sigh removing the goggles from my sight and slowly climb down the tree.

Later at the table in our dinning room, Sonic puts down the coffee pie Infront of me and plays along his way to me to my ears and kisses me on the cheeks. The way Sonic sweetly sings and sits down Infront of me made me giggle for his warm expressions.

He then takes a slice of pie and place it on my plate "Soo~ how was work? Did you find anything?" Sonic ask giving me the pie and utensils.

"It was... alright? We got this anonymous message and..." I stop and realized, if I give him the information it would be another serious thing if he is really one of the enemy.

"And?" He repeats and my nervous face turn away from him "And... it was random for no reason." I said taking a piece.

Sonic stares at me for a bit and said "I see, well it might be a prank... or a code?" Sonic's brow become serious for a moment, my eyes stares at him and I can feel my heart beating heavily because of his serious gaze in those files.

It wasn't photoshopped and all of those pictures have dates that exactly matches all of my failed missions... Why does my brain tells me that he is one of them? but my heart couldn't resist or do anything to hurt him.

I deeply sigh with my hands covering my face "Shadow are you okay?" Sonic ask, I slowly looked at him with his face peeking below to see mine.

" I'm...sorry I feel tired today. I'll go and get the day off." I said standing up and giving him a kiss, leaving the table to go upstairs.

Sonic POV

"Oh...sure"
I was worried seeing Shadow was feeling unwell for the way he acted, it was sad to see his pie to be half eaten and lose his appetite.

The room become quite and I was the only one there to hear the crickets with the cold breeze outside the window.

I sigh and also let the day go....

The morning came and it was cold to see Shadow nowhere to be seen, I panic for a bit, getting up and looking around worried "Shadow?" I called and someone suddenly knocks beside the door.

"Morning honey" I looked up and it was Shadow with his arms crossed leaning against the doorframe. I slowly breathe thinking he left without me knowing.

I sigh from relief with my hands on my chest... Is this what it feels when someone you love suddenly disappears?

"Hm? Is everything alright?" Shadow asked and goes up to me concerned, I sat down on the side of the bed with him sitting beside me.

I looked away knowing my tears will soon flow down from my cheeks, but Shadow realized how my eye's can't handle the tears and ask.

"Hey, what's wrong??" he said gently touching me "*sniff nothing..." I said avoiding the real answer.

"*Sigh Love, please tell me the truth" Shadow begged and held my hands closer to him, he was worried and with that concern I can't say no to my thoughtful husband.

"This might sound stupid, but I thought you've already leave me without saying goodbye..." I said embarrassed, Shadow was surprised then chuckles.

"I was just making you my special breakfast, Sonic." Shadow smiles and puts his hands on my cheeks, I hold his hands and continues my worries.

"But, what about yesterday? You were feeling unwell and you didn't tell me why. I thought you would leave me without anything to bother..."

Shadow was stunned from what I've said and slowly starts to blush from how my words pressed down against his heart.

"Oh well... I was having a lot of work yesterday. It was stressful and hard to understand how to solve the problem. But, today they let me have a day off and to finally have time with you."

Shadow then lifted up my arm and kisses me on my cheeks to stop me from crying, which made me feel a bit better.

The way he looks into my eyes made my heart hurt...but what if one day...? One day he'll leave me when he knows the truth from who I am...?

Now that everything is settled, I was at the garden plants some flowers, mostly lavenders, since that is Shadow's favorite flower.

While planting, a sudden hug gipped me from behind "Ack- Shadow!" he then burying his face in my shoulders, smelling my scent. I sigh with a cough laughs, I hold his hand from my waist and ask "what's wrong?" his hands then grips me closer to his body and grabbing my whole body with his hands.

"Dh..y omfph..." He said his face still buried in my quills "Dh... What now?" I questioned confused.

He then lifted up his head and goes closer in my ear.

"Day. Off."

My thoughts flinch with my body and realized it's been months since we've done it, my face becomes flustered pink and he grabs me by the tail.
