It was a week before Christmas and Todoroki and Yaoyorozu were out shopping at the mall. The couple still needed to get last minute christmas presents and a few other things before they stay at the Todoroki household for a few days.
"What do you think Fuyumi would like??"
"Well, she's a teacher and she likes reading, so probably something educational."
"Maybe I should get her something to help her relax more."
"That would be helpful, she hasn't done anything for herself in over a decade so it isn't a bad idea."
"Now I just have to think about what that could be."
"Get her a truth serum so she can admit her feelings for Hawks" Todoroki jokes, Yaoyorozu chuckled suspiciously. "Okay, what do you know??" The couple stopped walking.
"What do you mean??"
"That's your 'I know something you don't' chuckle, so tell me what it is."
"I know nothing"
"Momo, I can tell when you're lying"
"Fine, I know something, but I can't tell you so it doesn't matter."
"Why not??"
"I'm sworn to secrecy, even from you."
"C'mon. Aren't you not supposed to keep secrets from one another in a healthy relationship??"
"You know that doesn't apply here."
"I think it does. It's a secret."
"One that has nothing to do with you, love."
"It's my sister's happiness, which is very important to me."
"You just hate the fact that I know something about it that you don't." Yaoyorozu steps closer to him. "It's driving you mad" She continued walking as Todoroki stood there, blushing. Yaoyorozu walked back over to him and put her hand on his cheek. "Look, Shoto. It has nothing to do with trust here, alright?? I want to tell you but Fuyumi trusted me to keep my mouth shut. She's pretty much my sister now and we need to build trust too, and I can't do that if I tell you absolutely everything."
"I guess you're right, and I guess I'm happy you two are building a good relationship." The two shared a sweet kiss, interlocked their fingers, and continued walking.
"So, we're gonna meet Emeri this holiday, right??"
"I suppose."
"Are you nervous??"
"Why would I be??"
"Well, your family is delicate and adding someone in is a serious subject."
"I added you."
"Yeah, but you were the only one who knew me. Emeri already gets along with everyone else, so what if she rubs you the wrong way??"
"Then I tell you and no one else."
"Shoto."
"And I honestly doubt that would happen. She makes my brother happy, and I didn't understand how exactly, but now I do because of you." Todoroki kissed her head.
"I suppose you're right. I just want you to have a happy family, Shoto. This is your first Christmas together, right??"
"It is. And I actually think it's gonna go well"
"Why??"
"Because everyone who will be there loves each other. We are becoming a happy family and I think we have the potential to have a happy holiday."
"I love your positivity, Shoto."
"Well, you gave me hope that I could have a happy life, so I guess I'm a little bit optimistic."
"Well I'm very happy to hear that. You deserve it." Yaoyorozu grabbed her boyfriend's face and kissed his cheek.
"So, what else do we need??" Todoroki asked.
"Well, do you need me to go somewhere else so that you could buy my present??"
"Are you implying that I didn't get the love of my life a christmas present yet??"
"Well did you??"
"Momo, I've had your present for a few months now, I've just hidden it."
"Really??"
"Yup"
"What is it??" Todoroki gave his girlfriend a look. "It was worth a shot." The two chuckled and finished up their shopping.
