Friday nights in the Outer Banks were known for bonfires. Everyone from both sides of the island would all meet at the boneyard and make a big bonfire. Good friends, great music, and beer of course were all a given.

Sarah and I were in her room getting ready for the bonfire. I was curling Sarah's hair while she was doing her makeup.

"I'm so glad it's the weekend," Sarah said with a sigh of relief. "It's been a crazy week."

"I agree. I could use a night out." I replied, putting some hairspray in her hair.

"So," Sarah stated, changing the subject. "How are things with you and Rafe? I'm going to be real honest, y/n, because you're my best friend, I wasn't sure about the two of you. But, you're so good for him, he is the happiest he's been in the longest time. Thank you, for that, y/n. It's really nice to see him happy." Sarah said with a smile.

I smiled softly. Rafe was a subject I could talk about for hours and never get tired of it.

"He makes me unbelievably happy, Sarah. He takes good care of me and I want to take good care of him. He took me out on the Druther's the other day to watch the sunset. He brought a picnic dinner and we had the best time, and he told me he loved me." I couldn't hide blushing. I was smitten by Rafe Cameron.

"Y/n!" Sarah beamed. "He told you he loved you?? Oh my gosh, wow, this is great!"

"And I told him I loved him, too. I know we've only been going out for a little bit, but I truly love him, he's so wonderful." I smiled.

"Y/n! This is fantastic, I'm so happy for you both." Sarah said.

"Thank you, Sarah. You're an amazing friend." I pulled Sarah in for a hug.

There was a knock at the door. "I'll get that." Sarah said, standing up.

Sarah opened the door, and to my surprise, Rafe was standing outside the door.

"May I come in?" Rafe asked.

"Depends," Sarah replied with a laugh. "I'm just kidding, you can come in. She looks amazing by the way."

Rafe walked in, whistling as he saw me. My cheeks turned bright red.

"Rafe.." I said, hiding my head in my hands.

"Don't hide your face from me, pretty girl," Rafe said, removing my hands from my face. "You look beautiful as always. I especially love my flannel on you." Rafe whispered, causing me to blush.

"This is my favorite flannel of yours, I'm keeping it." I replied.

"Good, it looks better on you, my love." Rafe replied, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing my cheek.

"You two are the cutest, I can't stand it," Sarah beamed. Topper is almost here, do you want to ride with us, or are you two going to ride separately?" Sarah asked.

"We'll take my jeep, thanks, Sarah." Rafe said.

"Or do you want to take my car? You know I'm a really good driver." I laughed.

"Baby, as fun as that sounds, you hit every curb." Rafe chuckled.

"I'll stick to my passenger princess duties then, thanks, baby." I laughed. Rafe kissed my forehead.
