"Alright, listen up. It is my pen, but who on earth are 'they'?" Perdita asked, clearly confused.

The witch let out a short, low chuckle. "Oh, my dear, you have so much to learn. 'They' are the foolish humans who wander into the forest, practically asking for trouble. You see, I'm not like you. I'm not exactly human," the witch responded, sporting a mischievous smirk.

"Not... human?" Perdita asked, stepping back with the pen still in her hand.

The witch nodded, "I'm a witch, love," she chuckled, as if she were mocking Perdita.

"Perdita asked, clearly confused, as she started to get suspicious of the witch, "But then, why did you want my pen? It's useless to you... right?"

The witch's eyes went a bit pale. She didn't respond for a moment, as if she was debating whether to tell Perdita or not. Then, she finally spoke up, "Listen, lost child, I don't have to explain it, ok?"

Perdita let out a short sigh and then blurted out, "Hey, I didn't catch your name." She patiently awaited the witch's response.

The witch looked up at the moon, then back at Perdita and responded, "Lillith, it's Lillith."

Perdita smiled and held out her hand. "Perdita, nice to know your name, Lillith."

Lillith repeated the name quietly, as if trying to memorize it. Then she looked Perdita up and down and shook her hand, a bit confused but went along with it.

Perdita chuckled nervously, a bit flustered by her embarrassment. She took her hand away and nodded.

"So, what do we do now?" Lillith asked, as if she was bored, re-adjusting her witch hat.

Perdita shrugged before clearing her throat. "Ahem, um, I should be going now. Bye, Lillith."

The witch didn't respond. She seemed confused or puzzled, at the very least.

Perdita was about to leave before Lillith took her wrist without hesitation, as if it was a reflex.

The witch spoke up, ".. sorry, nevermind."

She let go and watched Perdita run away. She wanted to say more, but couldn't. She clenched her fist as she stood there, murmuring, "God dammit, I still need that pen, though."

The witch stared up at the moon, wondering why she didn't want Perdita to leave.

Perdita ran home, just to see her parents arguing.

'What happened? ..Did I do something wrong?'

Tons of thoughts raced through her head. Suddenly, she saw her mom throw a glass bottle at her father. She looked panicked and immediately screamed, "Mom, what are you doing?"

Her mom turned to Perdita and responded, "Me and your father are divorcing. Go to your room, now." The mom shouted.

Perdita looked frightened and nodded, practically shaking in her boots. She ran upstairs, slamming her door shut. She sat on the other side of it, inside her room, looking shook and confused. She was breathing heavily before she decided to try taking deep breaths, slowly calming down. She got up slowly, turned to her window, and decided to open it, feeling the calming cold breeze in the air. She looked up to the moonlight.

She mumbled, "I'm so, so confused." She pushed the hair out of her face before closing the window and turning her light off. She decided to go to sleep, covering her ears with her pillow because of her parents arguing.
