Atlanta, Ga"MA I said imma be there," Ris groaned as he sat on the FaceTime call with his mother. They had been on the phone for over an hour and she had been repeating the same things nonstop.
"I'm just making sure, I know you," she frowned at her son, blinking aggressively.
"And I said imma go ma, I need to get off the phone tho I'm picking up my friend," he rushed out making an attempt to get off the phone.
He was parked outside Wingstop waiting for his food, he was sure his food was already done but his mother refused to get off the phone.
"Ok, but I just wanna see my baby, ever since you moved in with your dad you act like you don't even know me," a pout graced her features. His mother had looked the same since he was 10 years old, she had beautiful caramel colored skin that she had gotten from his grandfather, her father, Tyson. Courtesy of his grandmother, his mother's mom, she had beautiful lucious auburn hair that flowed down her back and bright red freckles that graced her face.
The gene hadn't skipped him completely, he had very few freckles along his cheeks and nose. But he carried many on his body, it was one thing he was somewhat insecure about. He hated the freckles, plus they hadn't always been there.
They sprouted on his body when he turned 13 and began to grow into himself. His face freckles had always been there, and although he hated them with a passion he had learned to deal with them. The auburn/ginger hair had skipped him. His hair was more of a light brown, but since he dyed it often people would never know.
Growing up the boy had many insecurities about himself, he knew he had gotten his looks from his mother. Although he found his mother to be one of the prettiest women he's ever seen as a man it didn't fit on him, a black man with light brown hair and freckles. He might as well had been white. And growing up where he did, around the many white kids in his dad's neighborhood, they never failed to tell him how 'white' he wanted to be.
"I'm gone be there mom I swear, tell Mike and Alaija I said wassup," he told her before abruptly hanging up the phone. He knew he would never hear the end of it but he couldn't deal with her any longer. He loved his mother, he truly did. But she loved talking, and he didn't.
Mike was his mother's husband, the 2 had gotten married a few years back. They had a beautiful wedding in New York and then had their honeymoon a week later in Jamaica. Alaija was his younger sister, unlike him she had received both the ginger hair and the freckles from their mother. She was 5 years old and she was absolutely beautiful, he loved his sisters with all his heart. The younger girl had pretty light brown eyes that she had received from her father Mike.
Ascyris sighed deeply before he quickly hopped out of his all black 2023 Dodge Charger R/T that his dad had gotten him for his 19th birthday back in March.
He pressed the lock key on his car before he made his way through the semi packed parking lot and up to the building. He pulled up his black Nike sweats and stuffed his phone in his packet as he pulled the door open. He sighed in relief seeing that the store wasn't full and the line wasn't long.
He had only ordered his food 15 minutes ago online while on the phone with his mother. So he was hoping they were finished. The woman in front of him paid for her food before stepping aside allowing him to move up to the register.
