Chapter 5: "Hey" (Avery's pov)

In the morning on our way to school Brad reminded me about his game with the girl from school, Lani. I told him I wouldn't forget before he went into school.

I got to school and found Hailey and Katie waiting for me at the schools entrance. Hailey spotted me and started smiling and waving excitedly. We exchanged hellos, hi's and heys and went into school. We decided to walk around because we usually get to school.
We walked roamed the halls for a bit on our way to the library to check if it's open when Hailey seemed to spot someone and ran up to them. I looked up from my phone and saw who she was running to, it was Malaika. "Who's that?" "Oh it's Malaika" I said in a low tone that could've been mistaken as a whisper. Kat smirked at me and raised her eyebrow "oh that Malaika, wow she is really pretty" I might have blushed a little but I brushed it off.

We caught up to Hailey and she introduced Malaika to Kat. When we got there we found Malaika setting up her locker which looked pretty cool inside.

School finally ended. I got a text from Brad reminding me again not to forget about this evening, seriously does this guy think I have short term memory. I got a ride with Kat and changed when I got home because I had volleyball practice before.

Brad did the same when we got home and we made our way to the park. When we got the I saw this little girl doing shooting warm ups and after scanning the court I saw another girl sitting at one of the benches with headphones in her ears. She noticed us too, got up and ran up to us, the closer she came the more familiar she got and that's when it hit me, it was Malaika."Hey" Brad said nodding his head, "Sup, this is my sister Malaika, Laika this is Bradley from school" the girl introduced, Malaika smiled and waved at my brother. Brad smiled and turned to me "cool this is my sister Avery, Ave this is Lani the girl I was talking about" I smiled at her "Hey Lani, I'm Avery, this jerks older sister" I said rubbing the top of his head. I crouched down, "Please do kick his butt for me" I whispered and winked. Lani, giggled in response, I stood up straight and smiled at her before turning to her sister. "Hey" I said, "Hey" she said smiling.
