Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery, Kaneohe O'ahu, Hawaii
The drive over to the service was a blur of memories and emotions. Arizona didn't say much to her brother or uncle, the siblings stood beside each other throughout the service. Getting a chance to say their final goodbye before their dad was buried.
Silent tears left Arizona's eyes from underneath her sunglasses, Uncle Dave pulled her into a hug trying to comfort her. The only thing she could think about was the fact that both her parents were dead... Gone.
The service came to an end and everyone started filing towards their cars. "Want to grab something to eat?" Steve offered as the three started walking towards his dark blue pickup truck. "I'm not really hungry, I kinda just wanna go back to the hotel and sleep," Arizona replied with a sigh as she climbed into the backseat letting Uncle Dave have the passenger seat.
Steve climbed in the driver's seat sending her a look, "I know how you're feeling Ari, but you still gotta eat." He said earning a nod from her. "I know," she replied, "I know a really good place serves the best shrimp on the island," Steve offered. "I don't know..." Arizona replied. "My treat," Uncle Dave added. "Okay," she agreed even though she knew she wasn't going to order anything or eat.
Before she went back to the hotel she planned on stopping by the grocery store and picking up bread, sandwich meat, cheese, and what she'd need to make sandwiches. After their recent case in Florida, it was going to take her a moment to be able to trust other people's cooking again.
Kamekona's Shrip Truck, O'ahu Hawaii
Arizona sat at a picnic table staring off at the water while Steve and Uncle Dave were ordering food from the truck and talking to a bigger fellow who was running the truck. Kamekona, she guessed by his face being on the company logo. It didn't take long for a blonde man in dress pants, a button down shirt, and a tie pulled up in a silver camero. "Steve," the blonde said walking over to her older brother and Uncle as Arizona shifted her gaze towards the open ocean.
"Hey Arizona, this is my partner Danny William's. Danno this is my baby sister Arizona," Steve said introducing her to the blonde who held out his hand to her. "Nice to meet you," Arizona said shaking his hand. "Partner?" Arizona asked Steve confused. "Yeah, I'm planning on sticking around here for a bit. The governor of Hawaii has given me a task force to go after whoever killed Dad. Full immunity and means, yeah Danno's my partner," Steve replied standing next to Uncle Dave.
"Not by choice mind you, is he always like this? shoot first ask questions later?" the blonde asked earning a shrug from Arizona. "I don't really know," she replied as Uncle Dave slid a shrimp plate over to her. "I'm okay thanks, here Danno," Arizona said sliding the food over to Danny. "Thanks," the blonde replied going to take a shrimp when Steve moved the plate away looking at Arizona. "You gotta eat something Arizona," her brother said. "And I plan to, I'd just rather make it myself," Arizona replied as Steve put the plate back in front of her only to have her give it to Danny again.
Steve took the plate again and sent her a look, "Would you please stop acting like a child and eat Ari," Steve asked as he put the plate in front of her again. "I know you love shrimp," he adds, "Maybe so but after the case we worked, I'm gonna need a while to trust other people's cooking again," Arizona said sliding the plate to Danny. Steve went quiet trying to read her, "What happened?" her older brother asked.
Arizona shook her head making a disgusted face, "Not while your both eating," she replied. earning a confused look from Steve and the blonde detective who began eating the shrimp plate. "Okay..." Steve replied as he started eating keeping his gaze on Arizona before shifting to Uncle Dave who was picking at the food more than eating it. She knew between her brother's tone and look he agreed to drop the subject for now.
Arizona's gaze fell to the ocean, watching the waves crash on the shore. "I'm gonna take a walk up the beach," she said as she got up from the table and walked towards the beach; only pausing to take her shoes and socks off.
The moment she was gone Steve looked toward Dave before he cleared his throat. "What happened in Florida?" he asked again only this time he was asking Uncle Dave. "Didn't your sister just say not while we're eating?" Danny protests as he ate some of the shrimp. "We came across as serial killer cannibal, that projects his cannibalism onto others, unwillingly or unknowingly," Dave replied still pushing the shrimp around his plate.
The blonde detective put his fork down altogether. "Now I see why she said not while we eat," Danny said more to himself disgusted. Steve glanced down the beach where Arizona walked off. "in the end we caught him, and were trying to figure out what he'd done to one of his victims; only to find out he volunteered during the search party." Dave said with a pause. "He joined the search party of the girl he killed?" Danny asks. "He volunteered as a cook," Dave replied as Steve and Danny made disgusted faces.
The more Arizona walked down the beach she stared off into the ocean wondering where to go from here. Apart of her wanted to look into who murdered her dad. In all honesty, she just wanted to get away from everything and wrap her mind around the fact he was gone. Arizona kept walking along the beach until she made it back to the hotel.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village, Waikiki Beach Resort
With one last look at the ocean Arizona made her way upstairs to the penthouse grabbed her unpacked bag from her room and opened it removing her shoes, badge, and gun. She zipped the suitcase back up, and slipped the shoes on; before she made her way over to the kitchen area. The brunette set her badge and gun on the counter before picking up a pen and paper off the counter and began writing a note for both Uncle David and Steve. When she was finished she took her cell phone out and turned it off before setting it in her bag and leaving the penthouse, taking the elevator to the parking garage, and leaving the hotel out a side street.
Arizona waved a taxi down and they began their trip to the airport. The drive wasn't long and silent the only noise was the song softly playing in the background. Her mind trying to comprehend that she buried her dad less than 3 hours ago. Arizona let out a shakey breath as the taxi pulled to a stop outside the airport.
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, O'ahu Hawaii
Arizona paid the driver in cash before she took her bag and stepped out of the cab and made her way into the airport. As she made her way into the building she paused looking at flights wondering where she would go. She didn't want to fly back to Virginia and work, she couldn't bring herself to stay in Hawaii. In all honesty, she didn't know where she wanted to go but she would figure it out when she got there.
She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding as she made her way up to a counter and booked a one way ticket to Phoenix Arizona.
