Yeji's POV:
I approach Lia, carefully putting my hand on her shoulder. "Hey, Lia. Are you okay? Why are you crying?" I softly asked her. "Yeji? What are you doing here?" She asked, wiping away her tears, and faking a smile. One thing you need to know about her, she doesn't like showing her emotions to other people. She puts up a front, faking a smile or two, and says she's okay. She thinks crying in front of people makes her a burden, she thinks people will see her as weak and sensitive. But she's anything but that. She's strong, and she stands for her family and her loved ones. She worked hard for her future, for this life, for this family, and I need to remind her that. I need to remind her that she's not alone in this. That it's okay for her to cry, to be vulnerable even for once. That whatever she's going through, we'll be here. I'll be here. "What happened?" I asked, sitting down beside her. "I'm fine, what are you talking about?" She replied, keeping her fake smile up. "Come on, Lia. I know something's wrong. You can tell me." I replied. Her smile slowly turned into a frown as she let out her cries. She reached in for a hug, and obviously I hugged her back. "I just, I, Minho, he-" "Shh, shh. I'm here. Let it all out." I replied. She continued to cry on my shoulder for a few minutes, but she soon wiped away all her tears and cleared her throat. "Someone called an hour ago. Minho got hospitalized in Italy. He was on his way to Canada for one of his business trips, but the engine of the airplane he was in malfunctioned, and they crashed in Italy. It was a good thing that everyone survived, but everyone including Minho got hurt very badly. I need to go see him, and I need to know if he's okay, but I don't know who would take care of Haneul. I can't risk my son's life by taking him with me, so he has to stay here." She whispered. I could still see her fighting her tears, and that pains me. "I can take care of Haneul." I replied. If that could help her situation, I will do it. "What? Are you sure? Don't you have anything to do? What about your job at the company? Wouldn't taking care of Haneul get in the way of your job? You don't have to do this you know." She replied. "Yes, I'm sure. Hey, I know what you're thinking. You think you would be a burden to me if I offer to help you. Well, let me tell you something, Jisu. I'm here for you! No matter what you're going through, you will never be a burden to me. And besides, your husband needs your help. You can't split your body into two halves to take care of Minho and Haneul, now can you? My point here is, you don't need to think about what others need all the time. Think about yourself for once. It'll be much harder if you keep things to yourself. So, I will take care of Haneul. You don't need to worry about me, okay?" I smiled softly at her, trying my best to reassure her. "Alright, you win. You can take care of him. I just hope Minho's okay." She replied.
Lia’s POV:
I'm sitting here alone in our garden. After I told Yeji about my situation, she said that she bought a present for my son, so I let her inside. I’m so grateful for Yeji. She has been there for me since we were in middle school. She always finds a way to help me when I have a problem. Sometimes, I even wonder how I managed to find such a great best friend like her. *Ring! Ring! Ring!* My phone rang. "Hello?" I answered. I didn’t really look at the caller id, so I just have to wait for their response to know who they are. "Lia, honey? How are you?" It’s my mom. I really miss her, along with my dad. She has no idea how much I need them right now. "Hey, mom. I'm not doing so good right now." I think it's best if I tell her the truth. "Why? What happened?" She asked concerned. "Minho was on his way to Canada, but his plane crashed in Italy." I replied. "Oh my! Is he going to be okay?" She exclaimed through the phone. "I don’t know about his situation right now, but they said he was resting earlier. I already booked a ticket to Italy so I could check on him. My flight leaves tomorrow." I answered. I still can’t believe that happened to him. "Well, I hope he's okay. We'll pray for you both. Will you bring Haneul with you?" "No, he'll be staying here." "Does he need someone to look after him? If so, we can come over there to take care of him." Mom offered. I wish they could, but they’re in the province. I don’t want to be a hassle to my parents. Besides, Yeji is here for Haneul. "No need, mom. Yeji’s already here to take care of Haneul." I replied shortly. "Okay, but if she needs help, tell her we could easily help her out." She responded. "Okay, mom. Say hello to dad and Hyunjin for me. Bye now." "Bye, honey." She replied before I hung up the call. I really wish they could live here in Seoul with us, but they refused. They wanted to stay in Daejeon, since my uncle from my dad's side lives there too. I moved to Seoul for college, and I met Minho there. Oh, how I miss him. I hope he recovers soon enough so that he could come home already. "Hey, Jisu. I have to go now. I'll start packing my stuff. Do I need to start taking care of Haneul tomorrow?" Yeji stood beside me. "My flight leaves tomorrow, so yeah, you can start tomorrow." I replied, and I stood up as well. "Okay. I hope Minho recovers soon. Be careful on your way there, okay?" She put her hands on my shoulders. "Yeah, I'll be careful." I chuckled slightly. She's the mother of our friend group, and it's quite funny how many times she would look after us like our actual mother. "I guess I won't see you for long. Love you, take care in Italy. Okay, I'll go now, bye." She hugged me then she left. I really do hope Minho recovers quickly.
