CHAPTER EIGHT
"Toby... How did you get Tempo back? I thought a bey like that would be in the past now..." Zeo exclaimed.
I didn't know what to reply. "I-I have to go."
I walked out of the area and headed home.
My parent's were happy at my return. We had a talk about Celeste and that I needed to be strong. My parents sent me to bed because it was late anyway.
"Celestial Tempo....Should I really be using you?"
My mind wandered to the memories of when Celeste joined our group in hopes of becoming number one with us in the Dungeon Gym. We quickly accepted her and her bey, Beat Pegasus. Celeste seemed to have a bright dream for her future, and she loved to share her love with everyone she could possibly meet. She knew that I was sick and she would comfort me on the phone when I felt alone. I also remembered the time when I called her at two in the morning to say that I needed help. She comforted me and told me to yell for a nurse. When I whispered that I couldn't... She ran to the hospital and yelled for them to come and help.
She was with me every step of the way....and when she got sick, I vowed to be with her every step of the way, too.
But was I the same for her? I had no clue how to tell. I never once talked to her at two AM, or even visited at such hours. An empty pit seemed to form at my stomach thinking of this.
Was I not enough?
Tears brimmed my eyes. "I'm sorry, Celeste, I couldn't help you. I'm sorry. I'm not....Number one for you."
"Oh Toby," her voice rang. "Toby, you did everything that satisfied me. I want nothing more but to become number one with you through this bey. Along with the beys, you, Zeo, and Masamune will become number one in the world. I will be right here with you, fighting at your side."
"That's right, Celeste, you are my Tempo."
"Toby, please don't worry. I'm right here."
I rested my Tempo on my forehead as a lay on my bed. "Alright."
~The next morning~
I awoke to the smell of a fresh, hot breakfast being cooked in the kitchen. I decided to quickly get ready before going to get my breakfast. Today would be a big training day tomorrow, a tournament would be taking place, and the grand prize was a state of the art beyblade kit. The winner will also be named the number one blader in the state. I hoped to win this one- it was fairly big.
"Hey, hun, how are you feeling?" my mother asked. My mom asked when she saw me approach the kitchen. She was finishing up the eggs.
"I'm coping; everything is going to be alright now. Don't worry!"
"Oh, honey, it's okay to be sad! We're all here for you..."
"Thanks, mom..."
Are you still doing that tournament?"
"Yeah, of course! I want to do it with Celeste, I mean, for Celeste— with Masamune and Zeo."
.............................
"Hey Toby, you're here!" Masamune yelled as he watched me approach the beyblade park entrance."Hey, Toby, is everything alright? You just kind of left us yesterday." Zeo asked, clearly concerned. I lightly blushed. "Oops, sorry about that, guys."
Zeo walked over to me. "You know you can trust us, right? We aren't going to steal her."
I opened my bey holster, taking out Tempo. "I'm sorry for not trusting you guys. You are my best friends, and you deserve my trust."
"Thanks, Toby." Masamune replied.
Zeo spoke up. "I just can't believe her spirit was sent into the bey...but I saw her with my own eyes."
"Alright, enough chit chat, let's see what she can do!" Masamune yelled. "Let's battle, one on one. Whoever wins gets to pick who they battle next."
We each agreed. The three of us stood in a circle, leaving a space for Celeste. "Together we will become number one!"
Once all ready to battle, the three of us stood and held our launchers.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Let it rip!"
Instantly, Tempo's aura shot out of the bey. This time she looked different. She wore a galaxy midnight blue gown and blue her hair was braided once again. She kept the same circlet.
The bey spun very quickly. A blue glow swept in a circular motion around the stadium. I watched as Masamune and Zeo desperately tried to attack the bey, but ultimately failed in the end. Tempo suddenly moved to the center of the stadium. Instantly, a clock appeared in the stadium. I saw Celeste's aura standing in the middle. Her cheeks were a shiny, smooth pearl. Her hair glowed and waved all around. "Number one." She outstretched her arms and two blades appeared. "Celestial slice!" she called. The daggers flew out of her hands quickly, placing two hard blows each opposing bey.
Neither of the beys could handle it, so Fox and Striker were both instantly knocked out.
"Toby!" Masamune cried. "What happened? How did you get so powerful so quickly?"
Zeo nodded. "Toby, we need to know what is going on. Especially since the tournament is tomorrow. With the power you have, you could destroy objects... And the people's beys..."
I sighed. Should I tell them the truth?
