CHAPTER TWO (Toby's POV)
As I left the hospital room, tears streamed down my face. I no longer took notice of the nurses and doctors staring and trying to comfort me. None of their words seemed to bring peace to me at the moment.
I now knew the feelings of my parents, along with Zeo, Masamune, and Coach Steel—how everybody felt when I was sick.
I was jolted out of my deep thoughts by the realization that I was about to run into the elevator door. I didn't care if anyone saw that. I just smashed the elevator button indicating to go down. The door took a few seconds to open. I waited for the people to exit before stepping on and pressing the button for the ground floor.
Upon reaching the ground floor, I stepped out of the elevator. I proceeded to walk in the direction of my home.
I was greeted by the sudden licking of my furry friend Patches, who almost knocked my down.
Clearly not in the mood, I pushed the dog aside and headed straight for my room. I found my mother folding clothes on the bedside. "Hello!" she smiled.
"Hi." I mumbled politely in reply.
"I take it she is not doing any better..."
Tears began to burst from my eyes once again. "She is getting worse by the minute. She couldn't even lift her hand today. I just wish I could do something..."
"You're doing the best you can, Toby. Just have faith and pray. God has plans, don't worry."
"Alright."
My mother hugged me tightly and left the room to myself. Tears streamed down my ace again. I hated to be acting like this, but it was hard not to...
