I open my eyes to an unknown ceiling.

Rubbing my hazy eyes, I turn the other side to find Shivani sleeping.

Yeah, that's right...I decided to stay the night in her apartment last night.

I sit up and check the time on my phone, it was 7:00 AM.

I have a habit of waking up early and but I don't want to bother Shivani while she's asleep.

I check through my phone, it was 5 June.

Tomorrow is the day when my college life officially starts.

It's exciting and stressful at the same time.

Just then my phone rings.

And as expected, it was my mom.

"Hello?"

"Good morning, did you sleep well" my mother asks.

"Yup"

"Tomorrow is the big day right? Gosh! I can't believe you are going to college, you have grown up so much now" she gets emotional.

"Haha it's only natural Mom"

"You know, when you were a kid, we couldn't even imagine sending you to college...even sending you to a school was a big deal"

"Hmm..."

"And look at you now, I couldn't have ever imagined I would have lived to see this day"

"Hmm..."

Tears swell up at the corners of my eyes.

I tried to hide, but my voice still cracks...

I don't like showing my tears.

"So all preparations are done right?"

"What?" I ask wiping my eyes.

"Your clothes are ready? Make sure to iron them. And what about your bag? Have you packed it yet?"

"No-"

"Do it right now! Don't keep it for the last moment, you will mess up!"

"Yeah yeah..."

"Hey I'm getting a call, will call you later. In the meantime, prepare everything for tomorrow in advance. It's your first day afterall!"

"Hm..."

She cuts the call.

Prepare for tomorrow...

That would mean I have to go back in there again.

I haven't told mom about any of it yet...

"Was that your mother?"

I look aside to see Shivani sitting up, rubbing her eyes.

"Yeah sorry, didn't mean to wake you up"

"Hey, don't be. And what did she say?"

"She was asking me to prepare for tomorrow, my classes begin tomorrow afterall"

"Oh?"

"Yeah..."

"So you still haven't told her yet?"

"Nope. I just can't bring myself to. I don't want her to worry..."

"I understand. But eventually, you have to..."

"..."

"Don't worry too much. And tell me, what do you usually have for breakfast?"

"Me? Anything works for me"
