Chapter 11

  Monarchstar raced through the forest,his mind racing with thoughts. What if he was too late to warn Juniperfrost?
The reek of blood hang in the air as he came closer to camp. He could see a crowd of cats gathered ahead,among them he could see Rainmist's grayish pelt. The SkyClan medicine cat had herbs on her mouth and was treating a black-pelted warrior.
Juniperfrost.
  Monarchstar halted once Rootwhisker stopped him.
" Give Rainmist space to work." The young medicine cat mewed,his tail flicked.

" What happened?"  Monarchstar said,he tried to keep his voice steady but in no avail.

" He was attacked." Rootwhisker reported,he turned his ember gaze back at Rainmist who had finished patching Juniperfrost up.

" We have no idea what it was,still. I believe we let Juniperfrost tell us once he feels better." Rainmist joined in,she shot a glance at the SkyClan deputy laying on the ground

" I see. " Monarchstar sighed,if he had been faster,then maybe he would be able to help Juniperfrost. But he was too late.

" Monarchstar,with all due respect. " Rainmist said
" Juniperfrost will take awhile to recover. I suggest you appoint a temporary deputy,just until Juniperfrost is back on his paws."
Monarchstar turned his gaze to the ground, he didn't like the thought of it  but Rainmist had a point, keeping a Clan- together especially one which had suffered a lot-  would be hard for one cat only to handle . And besides,it would be temporary.

" I will." Monarchstar said,his gaze shifted to the side,he noticed how Hootwhisker, Oatstalk,Shypounce and Dovejump hauled Juniperfrost on Oatstalk's back.

It had been two moons already since Juniperfrost was attacked. Monarchstar sat at his nest, keeping an eye open for the Clan. In the previous moon,he had appointed Ferretstalk to take Juniperfrost's place until the SkyClan deputy had fully recovered. He rose to his mitts and stretched,his joints cracking,was his age catching up to him?
Monarchstar shook his head as he approached the medicine den, inside Rainmist was focused on sorting out her herbs,while Rootwhisker was absent. Monarchstar noticed that Juniperfrost was awake. He then made his way towards the wounded cat and crouched besides him,he tucked his paws beneath his belly before turning to Juniperfrost.

" How are you?" Monarchstar asked,he wrapped his tail around his paws.

" Better. "

" What happened? I mean,who attacked you?" Monarchstar asked, heading straight to the point.

" A couple of cats. From the other Clans,I think. Leopardcall, Sandpaws, Heatherscent. " Juniperfrost mewed,it seemed he had trouble remembering the cats.
" They approached me, telling me that I deserve to be leader. They proceeded talking about their plan to conquer all Clans. I turned them down and they attacked."  Juniperfrost mewed,he shifted his paws while he spoke.
" You want my opinion, Monarchstar. I believe they'll find a way to reach inside SkyClan. "

" I don't know. SkyClan has been living off their own for many moons,way before I even came to be. I don't think our warriors are to cooperate with cats from other clans just yet. Especially to turn against their own Clan." Monarchstar said
" We are still adjusting. "

" I know." Juniperfrost sighed
" But I don't think it'll hurt to keep cautious."

" We will." Monarchstar replied,he rested his tail on Juniperfrost's shoulder
" I should leave you to rest." He rose to his mitts.

The sky soon took a shade of indigo as the sun dipped in the horizon, Monarchstar was curled in his nest until he heard his name being called. He looked up to see Alderbranch.
" Monarchstar, someone wants to see you. They say it's urgent.''
The redish warrior informed, Monarchstar stood up and stretched.

" Thank you, Alderbranch." Monarchstar nodded to the warrior. Alderbranch turned and led Monarchstar towards the camp's entrance,there stood Shellpaws.

" Shellpaws, what brings you here?" Monarchstar asked tilting his head to the side. He studied Shellpaws from ear to tail-tip. His white fur was messy and mingled with dust,he seemed to panting

" Monarchstar, thank StarClan I found you." The RiverClan deputy sighed in relief
" We're under attack. Not only us, WindClan,ShadowClan and ThunderClan as well.  Some of our clanmates have turned against us." Shellpaws quickly added once he noticed Monarchstar was about to talk.
" We figured,that SkyClan wouldn't be involved. We need help." Shellpaws repeated.
  Monarchstar's eyes widen,he was aware about this and wanted to warn the clans but Juniperfrost was attacked and that prevented him from doing so. His mind raced.
  Cursedviolet?
Rosebreeze, Cougarpaw.
Please StarClan let them be safe.
  " We'll help." Monarchstar mewed
" Alderbranch,fetch Ferretstalk, Twigstem and Sweetdusk."
The redish warrior nodded and left to find the warriors.
Monarchstar then focused on Thickfog who had been keeping guard along with Alderbranch

" Get, Gorseleap,Hollysplash, Bumblestrike, Floodstem and Molenose. " Monarchstar said. Thickfog nodded and disappeared into camp. Couple of heartbeats after Alderbranch re-appeared with Ferretstalk,Twigstem and Sweetdusk. The three warriors approached Monarchstar quickly

" What's going on? " Asked Sweetdusk, the gray's she-cat's eyes were sleepy,almost half-closed. Twigstem shifted besides Sweetdusk and lastly Ferretstalk sat down and rubbed a paw across his face.

" The other clans are under attack. Shellpaws has come and asked for help. You three will lead a patrol each.
Sweetdusk take, Smallriver,Woodeyes, Lotusbeam, Tornleaves and Featherfall. Help ThunderClan."
Monarchstar mewed,he flicked his tail. Sweetdusk dipped her head and headed to find the warriors Monarchstar had named.

" Twigstem, you will take Berryfalls, Twistedear, Hopfeather, Cicadatuft and Windrunner. You will head to RiverClan. Shellpaws will lead you."  Monarchstar announced,  nodding to the white furred deputy.Twigstem nodded and disappeared to find the cats Monarchstar had named

" Finally, Ferretstalk. " Monarchstar turned his attention to the dusky brown warrior
" Take Lightsoar, Cinderfur, Lakebloom, Creekface and Oatstalk. You head towards ShadowClan." Ferretstalk nodded and disappeared. Awhile after, Thickfog with Gorseleap, Hollysplash, Bumblestrike,Floodstem and Molenose appeared.
" We'll head towards WindClan." Monarchstar said
" Alderbranch,Thickfog, Fishstrike and Sorrelbird protect the Clan."
