Victor liked two types of women physically: the blondes and the tall ones.

And when he met Nanaba, he couldn't help the little blush appearing on his face, along with the thought that she was really cool.

From his point of view, you couldn't blame him. She was a truly capable soldier, evidenced by the way in which she handled the ODM, confident and cool. Also, that attitude of caring about newbies like him, wanting to pass on as much knowledge as she could. All of that only made Victor respect her even more.

'I really have a fetish for blondes and tall ones,' he thought to himself as he watched Nanaba zip through the trees ahead of him using the ODM.

She made a couple of hand gestures, snapping Victor out of his thoughts. He looked carefully and recognized it as the signals used to communicate. And from the way she extended her fingers, thumb and little finger, then closed them forward a couple of times, he got her message.

'A pincer movement...' he acknowledged.

She then extended five fingers and then closed her fist.

'Fifty meters ahead'

Firing the hooks at her, Victor dashed to the right, being designated as her little finger. And it wasn't because of his height or anything like that, but because of his position as a rookie.

'Or at least... I hope so, he thought,' one eyebrow twitching in slight annoyance.

Demonstrating his great skill with ODM, he was soon on the right track. He was able to see a 15-meter replica of a titan with rubber sacks on the ankles and the back of the neck. On the other side of the titan, Nanaba appeared and made a hand sign where she pointed her little finger down and her thumb up.

Getting the message, Victor shot himself into the dummy's ankle and, swinging his swords with terrifying speed and fierceness, sliced through the rubber sacks to the bottom.

He looked up in time to see Nanaba do the same with the sack at the back of the neck, cutting it to the base.

Victor whistled in shock.

'Blonde... strong... serene... cool... She reminds me a lot of Annie' he thought admiringly. 'I think they would get along... they could even be sisters.'

Maybe that's why he was more aware of Nanaba than compared to the other squad members of him.

"That was the last one," she said, landing next to him and looking appreciatively at the spot where Victor had cut. "Not bad at all, rookie. Now I understand why you were assigned to Mike's squad despite being a recent graduate, even if you were top of your class."

Victor tried not to blush at the praise, but it was difficult. He was never good with compliments and praise, and being complimented by someone who was totally his type of girl didn't help matters.

'Easy, Victor! Think of Annie!'

He imagined his girlfriend's cold, hard expression, especially that look she gave him when he did something stupid and that, against her will, made her smile ever so slightly as her cold blue eyes softened. The way she shook her head and told him he was an idiot.

Remembering that was enough to pull himself together and look at Nanaba as he smiled.

"Thank you, Nanaba," he said.

Another thing he liked was that in his squad he could call everyone by name. It didn't bother anyone that he did, as everyone preferred it that way, even Squad Leader Mike. But Victor always liked to show respect to those people who were considerate and kind to him.
