TODAY WAS THE EIGHTH OF MAY. What's so significant about it? It was Oliver's birthday. The entire day was spent hanging out with his friends.

First, they had gone to the beach for a few hours that morning. The girls had spent most of that time tanning, while the boys did whatever. Theodore had resorted to building sandcastles, using it as an excuse to not go in the water (he almost drowned once when he was ten, and has had a fear of oceans ever since). But then eventually Oliver somehow convinced him to join them in the water. But then everyone got too hot and tired to handle it anymore, so they ended up leaving.

Next, they went to a local karting track and had rented out some karts to race around in. Delilah and Jianna had thought it was the funniest thing ever seeing the boys ride around in go-karts, considering all of them were in Formula racing now, but they had started their racing careers in karting at young ages. "Back to their roots" the girls kept teasing.

And to top it all off, the group had gone to an escape room. Now that had probably been the most fun they had ever had. The one at the place they had gone to was one of the most challenging rooms there. And like any escape room, you only had an hour to complete it. And if you managed to do that, you got rewarded. And if you didn't, oh well. Better luck next time. The competitiveness was high, the group splitting up into four duos: Oliver and Theodore, Kimi and Jak, Paul and Dino, and Delilah and Jianna, just to make things a bit easier because teamwork makes the dream work, or so they say. Unfortunately, they hadn't escaped within the one-hour limit. But still, it had been fun.

Now back at Oliver's house later that day, the group had spent the next couple of hours winding down and relaxing before they all had to go back home. Those hours were spent eating cake, playing Mario Party, and Oliver opening his presents. By the time it was six o'clock that evening, Delilah had been the first to leave, having had to go home as soon as possible to babysit her siblings while her parents went out to dinner for the night. Jianna and Kimi had left together, because he had offered to take her home. Jak, Paul, and Dino all had flights scheduled for tonight, so they pretty much had to go to the airport immediately. So now that just left Theodore, who actually wasn't planning on leaving anytime soon and would rather stay at the Bearman household in England for the rest of the week instead of going back to Italy.

As for Oliver's family—his parents, Terri and David, and his younger siblings, Thomas and Amalie—none of them were even home right now. As to not disturb anyone, especially not wanting to trouble Oliver, who was most likely the most tired from all the activities after hanging out with his friends all day for his birthday, they had gone out for dinner a bit ago and promised to bring back food for him in case he got hungry.
