Shattered Ice

Chapter 2

Gray POV:

She slept in my lap through the whole ride, she looked so beautiful and I kept promising myself that I'd take good care of her. Somehow I think I'll mess it up... The train thing went off and it was almost our stop so of course I had to wake the comfortable Lucy. I shook her a little and I watched her stir a little, she stuck up her hand and pushed my face away while groaning for 5 more minutes. I started to laugh a little and shake her again "Lucy wake up please" she started to open her tired little eyes and I smiled "We are about to get off" I told her and she started to sit up. I kept laughing and she just looked at me like I was crazy. "Why are you laughing at me?" She asked and I smile "Because you nearly punched me in the face so that you can sleep" I started to chuckle again and I see her start to blush. The train stops at the station and we grab our stuff to go. When we get out of the station we decide to find an inn to stay in before meeting our client. There are only Two inns in the whole town and they sit right next to one another, we went in the first one and they had no 2 bed rooms available so then we tried the other one and it was the same deal and they had no regular one bed rooms. It was a couples hotel. I felt myself blush and I looked over at Lucy, she just pointed in the direction of the previous hotel and I nodded. We finally got our room and I said I'd sleep on the floor but she told me no. Part of me was very excited to sleep next to Lucy but the other part was sad and full of anxiety because I don't think cuddling is aloud. I let her freshen up a bit and I changed my clothes before we  went off to the client's house.

We finally arrive in the village area of the town where the least rich people live. I can only imagine how they'll pay us what they will owe us. We may only take a little money and I'll help Luce with her rent, these people need it more than we do. We walk up to a small hut with multiple kids hanging around it and knock lightly, after a little while a small malnourished man answers the door "Please come in, I'm glad you took on the job. Everyone in the town pulled out their savings to help us pay for you guys" I see Lucy frown from the corner of my eye "We can't accept the payment, we'll help you but we refuse to accept your payment..." I say and Lucy nods in agreement which makes the little old man want to cry "I'm so grateful, thank you. You can start tomorrow but I'm afraid that we actually know nothing of these monsters and I apologize for some of the false information. Rest well and be ready, I wish you the best of luck..." He says and then opens the door for us to go. I look over at Luce and she kisses my cheek "That was nice of you to give up the reward, I'll do some other jobs to pay my rent" she says and starts off towards the inn "I'll pay you're rent this month....don't overwork yourself" I must've surprised her because she stopped dead in her tracks and looked back at me "You would do that for me?" I blushed and nodded as an answer to her question. Before I knew it I had a pair of arms wrapped around my neck and soft lips against mine, I slowly started wrapping my arms around her waist and I kissed her back. We stayed like that for what felt like an eternity and I couldn't help but to smile happily, we held hands the whole way back to our inn and that night I got to cuddle her.
