Shattered Ice

Chapter 8

Lucy POV:

I reached the small town quickly and I never even noticed that Natsu followed me, we looked around and everything was a little too quiet. There wasn't a single human in sight, this made a weird feeling well up inside of me so I got into a fighting stance. Natsu gave me a strange look before getting knocked on his ass by the biggest S class monster that I've ever seen in my life, it looked kinda like the one that Erza fought in the GMG's a while ago but way bigger. I started to attack it with everything I had before I noticed something strange through a clear window on the monster's torso. I found Gray....

Natsu POV:

I was helping her fight but her attacks was doing more damage than mine and suddenly she just stopped all together "oi Lucy, why aren't ya fightin'?" I yelled and she seemed mesmerized by something on the monster so I tried to look at it from her point of view and I'll be damned, Gray was inside the bastard. I came up with an ingenious plan to get him out and started to whisper it into her ear, she cocked up her eyebrow at me and I have no clue why. After she quit giving my a look of confusion she got in her battle stance and I got into mine then we both started to chant "Roar of the Fire/Celestial dragon!" and our magic not only hit the target spot, but shattered it and all the weird liquid inside the monster spilled out along with Gray and a few other mages who are supposed to be S class. I was laughing on the inside because I knew Erza would kill me. Lucy ran over to the unconscious Gray and held him in her arms, she was whispering "I'm sorry" over and over again and was rocking back and forth. Everyone else was getting all the weird monster goo off of them while feeling sorry for the couple. I look at Erza "Is he okay?" she shrugs and puts on cleaner armor before saying "The monster is defeated, dry off and prepare to leave, Gray probably won't wake up for a few days. If he wakes up at all" Erza has always been very blunt with her words but did she really have to include that last part? Lucy began crying even harder and everyone gives Erza  a look of annoyance Which is unusual. However, we did as we were told and Gildarts carried Gray as we set off back to the guild (after getting paid that is) where Gray laid in the infirmary with Lucy never leaving his side. Mira always had to beg her to eat, but she wouldn't. The guild has been a very quiet place since we lost Lucy and even though she's back, we may lose Gray"
