Chapter 6, The Debut Pt. 3

3rd Pov

Flashback

~1 month ago~

Sophie was running through the hallway, holding Y/N like a sack of potatoes while Y/N reads a book that was in her hand. "Give her back!" Dorothy yelled, way behind as Ryan was close behind her. He used his soot ability to recapture Y/N, who flipped to the next page of her book.

"Oh, good afternoon, grandfather." Y/N said, causing both Ryan and Sophie to freeze, allowing Dorothy to finally catch up.

Lord grandfather walked towards them, "I thought I told you to call me father." He picked her up in one hand while Ryan, Sophie, and Dorothy were bowing and quietly cursing each other.

Y/N looked at the three with slight pity, before looking back at the book. Lord Grandfather turned around and left the three adults, "How have you been? We haven't spoken to each other for a few days." He said.

Y/N nodded her head, "Sorry about that, Y/n has been busy with work".

She said this very Unapologetically, though it didn't seem to bother Lord Grandfather. He just laughed at the one he calls his daughter.

He ruffled her shadowy hair/(Or other), "Haha, I'm glad to see you're still a child." This caused her to get slightly annoyed. "With all due respect, but I am not a child."

However, to lord grandfather, he simply saw her as a small girl in his arms, and nothing she did would ever change it.

~Present Time~

Kate Pov

After Y/N left me alone in the cage, I slowed down my heart as I began to rethink. While trying to get her out of my head I began to think to myself.

'Hmm... is it just me or Does this whole test feel like a spectacle? The Debut... Its as if... Someone is watching us.

3rd Pov

In a room, 4 adults are sitting on 2 different couches. In front of them is a board of Kate and Y/N, Y/N's figure sliding away from kate.

"It appears our Y/N chose not to help Kate after all." Joseph said, commenting on the board.

"That's true, our darling doesn't need to help anyone but herself. But still, did you see that John boy? His soot volume is quite impressive." Sophie said, Ignoring the slight glare she got from Ryan.

"Epic Failures are more entertaining than outstanding candidates." Ryan said. Joseph then spoke, "Ryan, what vulgar taste. This is a test. Are you saying you desire to see our Y/N fail?" Ryan got up and slammed his hand on the table, his soot Emanating the room wildly. "HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE RYAN OF SUCH A CRIME!" Dorthy then spoke, in hopes of calming her partner down.

"Oh, please. It's one of the few diversions we have in this place! And I must say, Both John and that labyrinth-chopping doll are most entertaining."

Ryan sat back down as Dorothy kept speaking, his soot lessening, looking out the window.

"Though, Edward did go through such pain to create it, poor fellow." Ryan then said, "Why, does he mean to be a gardener? His obstinate personality's on display."

"'Earnest' is more accurate." Joseph said, looking out the window. Sophie then said, "He's desperately trying to please lord grandfather, no doubt."

"Hmm. In any case, Edward bias in regard to the test is unflattering. Other than Y/N, of course. She deserves special treatment."

Dorothy nodded at his words, "Other than our darling Y/N, His treatment of poor- Last place kate. Even worse, her living doll apparently has sunshine on her brain."

Sophie then spoke in a bright tone, "Speaking of sunshine, Did you hear?" Dorothy looked at Sophie, "Hear what?"

Sophie leaned forward and whispered, "Grandfather spoke to Edward before the debut. I could only hear so much, But from what I heard, Lord grandfather told Edward..."
