After a while, they reached their destination. It was already past daytime, the dark night sky filled with the multiple lights of the city. Y/N watched intensively as the neon lights flickered and little groups were minding their own business.
"They sure do like their privacy." She commented softly as Obi Wan looked at the tracking device. He looked over to where another fellow stood that may could've been a little help. Y/N sighed as she knew that no one will ever give away juicy details as they speak.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for a ship. I was tracking its signature"
"You're in Dayu now. All signals in or out are blocked. People like their secrets out here." Y/N could help but snicker as Obi Wan got turned away. She walked up to him, telling him what she said earlier. "Told you. They like privacy."
"Nothing wrong with a bit of hope." A shrug was the only reaction he gained from her and he shook his head. Pulling his robe somewhat tighter on his body. With the few minutes that had passed while walking around, Y/N noted that Obi Wan did in fact, got into all sorts of interactions. Not really thinking about it twice as he asked around for information. Even telling a girl it was his daughter.
"Thought it was the daughter of a friend." She asked as she kept er own robes shut tightly, not wanting any unwanted attention because of her lightsabers and status. Obi Wan thought about it, telling her the truth, but it never fully came to it. "No it's-"
"Having trouble?" A kid asked with a slight bit of sass as he continued speaking with crossed arms. "There's something off." Y/N noted to Obi Wan through the force. But nonetheless the Jedi kept listening to what the kid had to say. "There's a Jedi. He helps people."
"The Jedi are all gone." Obi Wan replied calmly, still ignoring Y/N her silent warnings. "I'll take you to him... For the right price." The side eye made the woman slightly fume with anger. He looked at her before walking off, guiding the pair of where they needed to be. Once the kid told them to wait outside, he went out.
Y/N smacked Kenobi on his arm, narrowed eyes as she removed her mask to curse at him. "Why did you spend credits on that kid? You-" She wanted to curse him out, pointing fingers as she stamped her feet on the floor through frustrations. Obi Wan covered her mouth with his hands, signaling to be quiet, which was for the Mantis, not an easy task.
But the moment the door slit open and a mother revealed herself with her youngling. Y/N stopped her little tantrum directly. "That kid-" Y/n whispered as she watched the moves of the man. "Jedi mind trick?" She whispered to Obi Wan, who stood waiting at the door in the shadows.
"Jedi must protect their own? Please don't make me laugh." Y/N made way towards the door as the actual Jedi stopped her from moving closer. "Patience dear." Y/N bit her tongue but went to grab her lightsaber as she saw how the so called Jedi stole credits from the mother. She may not be the best role model but she did see the criminal act before her own eyes.
"Stop." Obi Wan warned her for once, the moment he saw her hands leave the lightsaber hilt, he went to take matters on his own hands. "You stay here." Y/n was annoyed, but gave him the free pass to do it his own way.
Less of the Mantis way...
She leaned against the door frame in the shadows, waiting for Obi Wan to mess things up or just to do the deed herself.
"The shadows are my realm, for the light is an unforgiving place for my kind."
"Of course, how much?" Obi Wan played along. "500 for locating and another 300 for taking you to her. For a 1000 I'll even show you some tricks." As the whole conversation got on display for her to hear, Y/N barged in.
