TINA'S POV:

The dreaded day finally arrived...the first day of primary school. Honestly it felt like my own personal nightmare. I stuck in a room full of annoying kids who would not stop crying when their parents tried to drop them off. Me being the mature kid that I am said goodbye to my teary eyed mother and went and took a seat in the corner at the very end of the classroom. Eventually the teacher was able to pry the children away from their parents and the class finally began. It was torture to listen to off-key alphabet song and counting numbers so I did the sensible thing and tuned out all the sounds and tried to clear my mind of all thoughts, and when the teacher looked at me I pretended to mouth the song.

Now you may ask why exactly I was trying to clear my head and tune out the sounds. It's because I decided to try occlumency. Since I didn't have access to any reference books and how occlumency actually worked, I figured I would try to see how it worked with different methods. I always loved Sherlock's method of using a 'Mind Palace'. It truly is a remarkable method of remembering information and memories. So I attempted to create a mind palace of my own.

The cozy nook was bathed in the soft glow of fairy lights strung through the leafy branches. The aroma of old paper and wood smoke filled the air. A plush cushion awaited on the window seat, inviting one to curl up with a well-loved book, in this case memory. Outside, the world was shrouded in twilight, but inside, the warmth of the fireplace and the comforting stacks of memories in the form of books, promised a night of blissful escapism. The window offered a glimpse of a world beyond, a forest, which promised adventure to those who know me and hell to those who sought to harm me. The forest floor was a tapestry of mossy green and deep brown, dappled with the little sunlight that filtered through the thick canopy of trees. To add an extra measure of protection against those stupid enough to try and poke through my head (cough...Dumbles...cough), I decided to add a lake surrounding the forest. The lake lay still as death. The water, a mirror reflecting the endless green, held secrets unseen to all except me. The lake, a silent sentinel, guarded its mysteries, promising both peace and peril to those who dared to gaze upon its surface.

'I am so fucking talented. I should have auditioned for AGT... I would have won'

'Girl we both know that ain't true' snapped the voice in my head.

'I can still pretend bitch! Shut up'

'Mhmm...'

Ignoring the judgemental tone of the voice in my head, I re-checked all the precautions in my mind palace and went back to my boring reality. After another two hours of off-key nursery rhymes and name the colour, I finally got to leave the place. My mom, being the sweet woman she is decided to get me ice-cream for completing my first day of school. I did not have the heart or the stomach to say no to her. Plus no way I'm turning down free ice-cream.

'I should visit my mind palace and organize the memories when I get back home. And also I can't keep calling it 'my mind palace'...too long and I'm too lazy. How about 'Atmina' it's Latvian for memory?'

'I like it... has a nice ring to it.'

'I know. I thought of it'

'Whatever loser'
