Vennela:

Ashwath's expression held a complex blend of weariness and guarded vulnerability. His eyes, once fiery, now bore the weight of unresolved emotions. The furrowed lines on his forehead hinted at inner turmoil, while his clenched jaw revealed determination. It was as if he battled both past regrets and present uncertainties, seeking solace in our shared silence.

I understood that Ashwath is distressed about his past. I exited the room to give him the space he needed to collect his thoughts. Sometimes people need space to grieve, think, or console themselves without others' interference.

After an hour, Ashwath descended the stairs.

"Serve me the food. I am hungry," Ashwath demanded. It seems as though he perceives himself as a monarch issuing commands that must be obeyed by all. I remained seated, offering no response, as if I had not heard him.

"Serve the meal," Ashwath repeated, this time with a raised voice. I rose calmly and proceeded to the dining area, feeling a sense of fear at his heightened tone. As I served him his food, he gazed at me intently.

"Did you eat?" Ashwath asked.

"Do you care?" I wanted to ask, but I stayed silent because this arrogant man can lose his emotional control at any point in time without a clue.

"Sit," Ashwath said, and he served food to me as well. After lunch, I started reading a book, but Ashwath came to me.

"There's a dress on your dressing table," he commanded. "Wear it and get ready for the evening. We're attending my friend's pre-wedding party tonight, staying there for the next two days." His tone brooked no argument.

I was frustrated with his words. If he brought everything without knowing my choice, then he should have gone alone with those dresses without asking me to accompany him. Does he think I am a robot and plays according to his commands?

Ashwath, sensed my anger, "You'll like them, Vennela," he assured me. "And if not, we can always exchange them." His words carried an underlying threat. "Remember, I can make you act according to my commands. So better stop fueling my ego with your unnecessary thoughts. Go and get ready," leaving me shocked that he seemed to know exactly what I was thinking. Can't I even scold him in my mind?

I entered my room and examined the dresses and sarees laid out. They were exquisite, each one a testament to Ashwath's impeccable taste. I felt a surge of appreciation for his thoughtful choices. As I prepared for the evening, I meticulously attended to every detail. The light purple dress clung to my curves, and the silver jewelry sparkled against my skin. The bangles, a harmonious blend of silver and purple hues, adorned my wrists. I brushed silver eyeshadow onto my lids, emphasizing their almond shape. The kohl traced a dramatic line along my lashes, and I added a touch of blush to my cheeks. My lips, painted in a delicate shade of pink, held a hint of mystery. As I descended the stairs, Ashwath's gaze locked onto me, and he seemed momentarily breathless. His eyes held a mixture of surprise and admiration, and I wondered if this newfound allure would bridge the gaps in our relationship.

"Am I that stunning, Mr Arrogant?" I said.

"I want to say something that ruins your mascara but my heart is telling me to do something else," Ashwath said, his gaze fixed on my lips.

As he approached me, I couldn't anticipate his next move. To my surprise, Ashwath lightly brushed his pinky finger under my lower eyelid and then placed a dot behind my neck. I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath at his touch.

"An evil eye isn't good for you," Ashwath remarked, and I couldn't help but smile.  This man is tough to understand.

We started in his car to the destination. Everyone greeted him warmly, and I understood that he was a beloved friend to many. The event began and couples danced gracefully. I glanced at my man, picturing us dancing together. But alas, it was only a dream as he never wanted to dance with me.
